Material Specification :
Transluency in the fabric (kite paper)PVC coated fabricPTFE (polytetrafluroethlyene)
Transluency : to achieve ambient light during the day from natural sunlight like kite paper quality.Acrylic or PVC fabric can be used for the vertical exhibition panels.
Component Details
Series of cable loops that lie within the membrane plane helps relieve stresses ,
frces are transferred to a point connection where the cable loop
converges.
Bale wings are a good way to control stresses in a fabric roof at high or low points.
A single cable loop can reduce stresses , much as with the
butterfly form. Seldom used for permanent structures.
Ball and socket base plate . For use when tangential forces are complex and
unpredictable.
Book Shelf

Classroom Project (Team of 2)Project Duration : 2 weeks
Concept Brief : Design a simple book-shelving system for residential purpose using wood joineries.
Key features : Cost effective , portable , one can dismantle the parts when not in use.
Key Learning : Using wood joineries instead of adhesives to achieve strength and stability.

The slits in the brown planks were made to decrease the weight of the book shelf and to add
a stopper for partition and organisation.
All dimensions are in cm
MDF planks were cut on a jigsaw machine.
Planks were filed and sanded to acheive maximum finish
After the planks fit into each other , to give it more organic feel before painting they were filed for smooth edges
Emulsion paint mixed with some turpentine is aprayed evenly and allowed to dry

Horizontal piece of MDF was inserted through the groove to give support for the books to rest.
Weight of both the vertical planks on opposite sides enables the structure to stand.

InstallationOpen Elective ( team of 2 )Project Duration : 1 weeks
Brief : Using only Black , White and Grey make an installation to spread awareness about women abuse which is a very sensitive case.
Key features : Used twist toys and wireframe to set - up . Shows the perception of people towards incidents like rape , molestation , domestic abuse , violence etc. They pick sides and start the blame game . But one should actually look beyond and see the grey area to stop the problem when it is happening.
When you look through black cloth ( negative ) , you only see the tall symbolic phallic grotesque looking black structure because the are against white backdrop.
Transluency creates layers in the installtion.
When you look through white cloth ( positive ) , you only see the curled up lady delicate figure closer to the ground because it is the only white figure against the black backdrop.
To show how women are treated , and how the perspective from where u look can change the current scenario. Black , white (side views) and grey (b/w) front view suggests the viewer that in such a situation there are three major things to look at . Convict , victim and the act create opinions and impressions on people. One needs to be more sensitive towards these problems before they are magnified beyond vision or damaged beyond repair. Its the “act” , “deed” which has to be corrected at the begining , to save future complications.

Urbanisation
The core elements of D - Lane are its “INHABITANTS” .
The culture is varied as they come from various other parts of the city. Their beliefs and traditions are different , where can one see so much drasticity / contrast / variety in a span of 1.2 km ?
They are a self sustained town in itself.
History, Architecture, Infrastructure , Culture , Society , Public Life , Town Planning will be highlighted in each story ( as per Markus Heindsrof )
INHABITANTS
INTERDEPENDENCY
FAMILY / BELIEF AND VALUES
CONCEPT NARRATIVE :
The contrast which we see in the lane is very drastic to an economist’s eyes , opportunistic to a builder’s but the blend / co-existence of both at the same time , in the same place is very unique.
There is an economic imbalance but the “symbiotic relationship” compensates the drastic difference of the lane and facilitates the harmonious living in that habitat.
One man’s rubbish is another man’s treasure.(In this scenario two people are not competing for an “A” thing . They are making their living out of another person’s need) which is why we see a lot of services within that D - lane. Therefore they are inter-dependent.

She was a journalist in Indian Express before her health complications. She is originally from Kerela but settled in Pune only because her gynaecologist prescribed” her Osho. Its only the Osho ashram which glues her to Koregaon Park. Meditation helped her, she is full of positive and radiant energy.

Swamiji, owns a laundromat service in the Dlane. An Osho Shivir in his native city of Jalandhar had an obvious impact, since he moved to Pune with his family, cast aside his Sikh faith he was and took on the new identity of Antarkiran (inner light).
Obsessed with the Osho, he discusses his faith with everyone he comes across. He put forth a caution though -“Suno, par phanso mat.”

Asha Walekar is a fourth generation resident of the lane, her grandfather being the caretaker of the creamation ghat across her lane. She relocated to the lane after her husband’s demise to ensure their residency in the lane. She has independently raised three children from her housekeeping job, 23 year old Satish who works at a railway ticket booking office , older daughter Jyoti – married and lives with her husband and teenage daughter Tulsi currently preparing for her 10th grade board exams. Asha’s day starts with finishing all the household chores before going to work and ends with a walk down the lane with her mother. She owns three dogs, Myson, Rana and Bruno as her son is a dog lover. Inspite of all the difficulties through her life, Asha Walekar is extremely happy and satisfied to see her children doing well in life.
“Koi takleef nahi hain. Chaubees ghante paani aata hain.”
One thing that keeps everyone active and on the go all the time is their passion towards what they do or believe in. There will be a continuous line running across all the stories which will say what depicts or what drives them.
Panel Options
