Banking to Do Good
2
Can a Bank Do Good?
Yes, who you bank with matters.
S I M P L E Q U E S T I O N
S I M P L E A N S W E R
We are social enterprises and our profits are invested in delivering positive social good within our communities. This means your money is going to work every day to ensure you and your community prosper.
3
Quite simply, they are businesses that trade for
profit and have social goals.
By investing our profits, resources and time into local
social issues that matter.
How do you support our communities?
Enriching our local communities is at the heart of our business strategy, it’s the reason we come to work every day. Our team walk the talk too, clocking up 9,757 hours of volunteering in the last 12 months, that’s on average more than 70 hours per team member.

When you bank with us, this is what happens.
Do Good FundWe’ve committed $5,182,000 over four years to local sporting groups, health
care, youth education, apprentices and social entrepreneurs.
We do this either through grants or our social impact loan program where-by the terms of the loan, its longevity and repayments are designed to deliver
shared value for the beneficiary, the community and us.
This way everyone wins: we grow and the community grows.
The new surf beach complex was completed in July 2019. In order to complete the fit-out the surf club needed additional Government funding, so AWA Alliance Bank® provided a $600K social impact loan to secure it.

Red 2590 lives
We support the Australian Red Cross Blood Service program, Red 25, and together we rolled up our sleeves saving 90 lives over the past 12 months.
Local Love96
We’ve supported more than 96 local charities, not-for-profits, community groups, clubs, schools and fundraisers.
Community Volunteering9,757 hours Our team volunteer their time across a range of charities, community groups and not-for-profits, some as part of a corporate volunteering program, the rest in their own time. Together we’ve clocked up 9,757 hours. In the last two years the number of volunteering hours has grown to 17,718 hours, that’s on average around 127 hours per team member.

Community Partner Program
BDCU Alliance Bank® has a My Community Savings account where member’s nominate and support a community partner from a list of registered local charities, community groups and schools.
For every $1 of interest earned by the member, BDCU donates 15 cents to the member’s nominated charity. This year they supported more than 40 local community partners with $46,856 in contributions.
The Awards are now in their third year and celebrate the wonderful contributions people make every day to address social, environmental and community needs.
Each year we are inspired by our nominees and their hard-work, dedication and energy, and this year’s winners are no exception.

Within a very short period of time the community has jumped on-board to support the project. There are more than 50 volunteers taking care of a host of community initiatives including Scullin Traders, a community hub that sells grocery basics and local artisan wares; a coffee cart; creative workshops; game nights; social soccer and street libraries.
Scullin Community GroupSue White and a group of locals wanted to re-energise their community so they formed the Scullin Community Group.
Do Good Team Award
More than 600 locals attended their end of year party and in just 12 months they have over 500 active participants on their Facebook page. In January they were invited to showcase how participatory democracy works at the Museum for Australian Democracy.
