Dear Parents and Students,
The Buford Middle School Band program is sponsoring our major fundraising activity for the year.
BAND BASH 2K17, formerly known as Rock-a-Thon, raises money to supplement various costs of operation
that we encounter throughout the year. Some of these costs include the purchase of band equipment and music,
instrument repairs, fund instructional needs and clinics, and assist with travel expenses to music competitions. Students
will collect monetary pledges and donations, prior to the event. At Band Bash 2K17, students will participate
in various team-building activities and raffle drawings. Students can earn raffle tickets for the various drawings by
collecting additional pledges and donating raffle items. Only students who collect the minimum $40.00 goal will be
allowed to participate in the event.

DATE: Friday, March 10, 2017 TIME: 5:30 PM to 12:00 AM LOCATION: Buford Middle School
Students may be dropped off at the middle school gym door no earlier than 5:30 PM. Band spirit wear will be available for purchase, so please feel free to come inside and shop. There will be a sale rack! ALL STUDENTS MUST BE PICKED UP BY 12:15 AM.
♫ STUDENT PARTICIPATION AND GOALS
GREEN GOAL – each student to collect a minimum of $40.00 in pledges and receive 4 raffle tickets for drawings
GOLD GOAL - each student who collects $60.00 in pledges receives 6 raffle tickets plus a special Flex Time party
ADDITIONAL AWARDS - 1) each student who collects over $60.00 in pledges receives an additional 2 raffle tickets
for every $10.00 over the $60.00 pledge. 8th grade students may earn credits towards
their upcoming trip in May.
2) each student who donates gift cards, games, or toys for the drawings, will receive an
additional 1 raffle ticket per item donated. (*Dollar amounts on gift cards, games, or
toys are a $5.00 minimum, but can be higher.*)
Cash prizes will be given to the three highest earning individuals. These awards will be calculated based on the actual money collected at the event.

2) Parent Volunteer Form – Due Wednesday, March 1st
3) Donations of gift cards, games, or toys – Due Wednesday, March 1st
4) Pledge sheet & Money - Due at check-in on March 10th (Checks payable to Buford Middle School)

Rules and Details
! Remember ALL proceeds directly benefit the BMS Band Program!
! Please collect pledges from family, friends, and neighbors. DO NOT go “door to door” and collect from strangers. Make all checks payable to Buford Middle School. ALL MONEY WILL BE COLLECTED AT CHECK-IN ON MARCH 10TH.
! All donations are tax deductible and receipts are available upon request from Mr. Harris.
! Corporate sponsorship donations cannot count towards a student’s personal fundraising goal.
! Students who turn in pledges of less than $40.00 can still give the money, but they won’t be able to
participate in the Band Bash 2K17 event on March 10th.
! Students are encouraged to bring adequate supplies such as pillows, games, small tables, music (with headphones and batteries) etc. Mark all items with your name! BMS is not responsible for any lost, damaged or stolen items.
! If a student needs to check out before 12:00 AM, please submit a note indicating what time the student
needs to leave. Please turn in your note on Thursday, March 9th.
! No skateboards, basketballs, or frisbees are permitted.
! No CDs or videos with inappropriate language or violence are permitted. Battery operated radios/MP3 players, and electronic devices are permitted only if used with headphones.
! Clothing for Band Bash 2K17 must adhere to the Friday/Athletic Dress Down Days
policy as outlined in the BMS Handbook.
! Any inappropriate behavior will be subject to disciplinary actions as outlined in the BMS Handbook.

! Checks are to be made out to Buford Middle School.
! Please include student’s full name on the check memo line, otherwise credit may not be given to your student.
! All money will be collected at check-in on March 10th.
