    Chilled Water Circuit The chilled water circuit configuration shall be with variable volume speed pumps. Chilled water flows are to vary based upon a differential water pressure sensor, down to a minimum level for each chiller (nominally 20%). The volume of the chilled water loop shall be considered in the selection of the chiller. If the chilled water loop volume is required to be increased, allow for the necessary insulated buffer tank and associated pipework, valves etc.

    Direct expansion type Operation: Refrigerant liquid evaporates within the tubes. Refrigerant system: Arrange refrigerant circuits to prevent oil logging at the lowest operating refrigerant velocity. Water baffles: Provide polypropylene or mild steel water baffles securely fixed to the tube bundle or welded to the shell, and incorporate pass partitions complementary to the water baffles so that the cooling effect is distributed equally between all operating tubes.

    3.9 MULTIPLE CHILLER CONTROL

    Multiple Chiller Control Where multiple chillers operate as a system, provide a chiller system manager to operate the chillers as a single central cooling plant. The chiller system manager shall be provided and commissioned by the chiller manufacturer. Operation of the chillers shall be such that energy costs are minimised. The chiller system manager shall interface with the building management system using a serial interface, which shall be used to initiate the chiller system on request and to allow remote monitoring as below. Operating control and monitoring of auxiliary equipment such as chilled water pumps, condenser water pumps, purge units may be via the chiller system manager or directly by the building management system.
