Global Sisters believes that every woman should have the opportunity to stand tall. We’re addressing the gap in our society where women who are facing barriers to economic participation have limited and limiting options. We provide a real alternative for women who have special vulnerabilities or are excluded from mainstream employment, yet who are motivated to be self-employed. We offer a flexible, innovative solution that harnesses the potential of women as entrepreneurs.

Global Sisters provides a one-stop shop for job creation. Just as employment services support job seekers to access and retain stable jobs, Global Sisters supports job creators by providing a roadmap of practical, consistent support (for up to 3 years). Importantly, we don’t do this in isolation - we work alongside outstanding community partners to reach women in need.

Global Sisters is a unique market-led, technology solution for women who want to create rather than seek jobs.

Globally, microfinance has led the way in poverty alleviation efforts, supporting micro business development. What is missing in Australia and overseas is the end to-end business development support to create lasting, sustainable businesses. Global Sisters is about supporting businesses that do not stay micro or marginal but that lead to financial independence for the business owner and create a ripple effect through employment, value creation and inspiration to family and community.

As an organisation, we’re committed to sustainability through the development of our own commercial income streams. Global Sisters is also committed to scale. By leveraging technology and community partnerships we seek to meet the demand in Australia and beyond.

Each of our Sisters has a different story but a common goal - to be financially independent and stand tall through business. We support women in the earliest stage of concept development to women with marginal, fledgling businesses. We focus our support on women due to the powerful ripple effect that flows with increased financial choice and resources.

When a Sister is financially independent, she is free to make positive choices for herself, her family and community. She has the confidence to mentor other Sisters, provide leadership in her community and be a role model for future generations. She is able to stand tall. We call this the ripple effect. After achieving our goals in Australia we’ll be taking our thinking global. We believe our model has the potential to positively impact women and communities all over the world.
