RES (Renewable Energy Systems) is a private, family owned company headquartered in the UK with 35 years of experience in planning, building and operating renewable energy projects. RES is the worlds’ largest independently owned renewable energy company with over 13 GW project portfolio across wind, solar and battery energy storage and supports over 3 GW of renewable assets globally.

Established in Australia in 2004, RES’ recent projects include Emerald Solar Farm in QLD, Murra Warra Wind Farm in VIC, Ararat Wind Farm in VIC and Taralga Wind Farm in NSW.

The project is located approximately 20km south of Narrandera, located within the Narrandera Shire Council area. The project is on approximately 550 ha of farm land used predominately for cropping. COMMUNITY BENEFITS

THE ENVIRONMENT

With 200 jobs being added to the local economy, many businesses will benefit from the construction of Avonlie Solar Farm.

During construction phase of 18 months, the project will involve approximately $250 million in investment and will support 200 direct and 320 indirect positions. Once operational, 4 direct and 12 indirect jobs will be supported by the facility.

Financial benefits to Council through council rate revenue are likely to be significant over the project life cycle. In addition, RES will be offering a Community Fund to contribute a one off payment of $250,000 at the start of the construction of the project. This Community fund is to support local projects, community groups and organisations and will be managed locally, in consultation with Council.

The project has the capacity to supply sufficient clean energy to power approximately 80,000 homes and to reduce CO2 emissions by 158,000 tonnes per year.
