August Mission House Guests Aug 4-10: Mr. & Mrs. Timothy Cross and their children, Zoe (17), Emma (22). The Crosses are NAMB Missionaries serving refuges who are coming legally to the USA with the gospel. They show the refugees how to live in the US, as well as train and mobilize believers and churches to also be involved. Aug 13-17: Jon and Tanya Parks, and their two children, ages 13 and 14. The Parks work among the Roma (Gypsy) people in eastern Slovakia in the areas of education and commu-nity development. Aug 18-24: LaCount and Anna Anderson, and their two adult children, Leah and Chad Reed. The Andersons are missionaries with CBF, serving in eastern NC by providing resources to impoverished individuals. They are also involved with Together For Hope, CBF’s rural poverty initiative. Aug 25-31: Mr. and Mrs. Stan Smith, and their two adult children. The Smiths are retired after 37 years of missions in the southern Philippine islands doing community development and church planting.
Thanks to everyone for your prayers and support for our youth camp
to Rome, GA. We had a great time playing and growing in our faith together!
I could not have asked for a better summer with the youth. In both of
our trips - the Dominican Republic in June and Student Life camp in July - God used the work we did, the messages we heard, and the relationships we made, to draw us closer to Him and grow us in our
faith. And I know that your prayers and support made it all possible. So THANK YOU! Here’s to an awesome 2019-20 school year for our
church and our youth!

From the Preschool Director by Alicia Shell
Greetings from Camp FBP - Part II We started off July by hosting a “biirrrfff-day” party for America. Then we had visitors from The Farm at Oakland and Driftwood Nature Center join us for Zoo Week. They brought a snake, a turtle, an alligator and some chickens! And last but not least, our Lil Fish’s favorite week: Under the Sea Week. We learned all about God’s ocean critters and hosted a splash-tastic water day. We even had a guest presenter (me!) from the Georgia Sea Turtle Center who turned one of our staff into a sea turtle! It is safe to say that Camp FBP was a huge success. All 62 of our Lil fish (including four new Lil Fish who came to us in July) spent their summer having fun and being loved on by our Camp FBP staff. Now on to the 2019-2020 school year!
During the 2018-2019 school year, FBP served 89 children and their families…isn’t that fantastic? What an absolute blessing this program has been to our community and to First Baptist Church! When we open our doors on August 8th, we will begin our 2nd year in operation with 58 children, including nine new friends.
FBP is also in the process of becoming a Quality Rated program. This program requires that we provide the highest standard of care in Georgia, which means addi-tional staff trainings, rearranging classrooms, and, if you can believe it, more rules and regulations. FBP is ready to accept these challenges! After having recently been accepted into the program, we have received additional training and a grant for $2,700.
As this is such a generous congregation, we often have members asking what they can do to help the preschool. We are so glad you asked! During the month of August, we will have a “Back to School Giving Tree” set up near the welcome center. You are encouraged to pick a “wish apple” from the tree. The school supplies listed on the apples will directly benefit our teachers and our Lil Fish. We will also hold our First Annual Back-to-School Splash Bash at Neptune Pool on Saturday, August 24th, from 6:30-8:30pm. We will have private use of the whole pool so come join the fun! Tickets are $10 each, or $30 for four. Come early and have dinner - you can take advantage of the food trucks that will be available or you can bring your own picnic.
The FBP Staff and I are excited about what’s to come this next school year; new classrooms, new teachers, new Lil Fish and lots of new materials/toys for our classrooms. We look forward to making y’all proud in 2019-2020!
