Dear Church Family,

For more than a year, Paul, Bethany, Aidan, and Elijah Hardison have been preparing to

go as career missionaries to a remote area of Guatemala. They will be working among

the Mam people group, an indigenous tribe related to the Mayans. The Hardisons will be

working to strengthen and disciple the few Christians who are there. They will live the

love of Christ through helping with community health initiatives, projects in agriculture

and other evangelism efforts. What is very different about this mission approach is that

the Hardisons are being sent by our church, rather than through a denominational

mission agency. As a result, we will be much more involved in every aspect of their

ministry. We will be responsible for prayer, emotional support, and helping to set

ministry goals and objectives. They will be an extension of First Baptist Shreveport on

the side of a volcano in Guatemala! We will all be a part of their ministry, and we do

need a church-wide commitment. There are several ways you can help: 1) Prayer; 2) In

giving to the church budget you are helping to support the Hardisons. We have made a

significant commitment from our church budget toward their support. 3) Personal

financial commitment beyond your tithe: They continue to need

ministry partners who can commit to giving monthly toward their

ministry. 4) Connections: If you know of other churches or

individuals who might join their prayer and financial support

team, please contact me. This is an exciting new level of

missions involvement for our church, and I look forward to

seeing how God works.

Blessings,

Jeff
