Formerly a weed-infested litter box for neighborhood cats, it is now a well-planned and beautiful space that can help our preschool children get hands-on instruction in the growing of food and flowers. And we have two of our members to thank for taking lead roles in making this dream a reality. Rob Ludwick chose to upgrade this area for his Eagle Scout project, drawing up the plans and organizing and directing the labor force of Scouts. And Reiny Klein lent his carpentry expertise to the construction of the raised planters. Now, instead of an eye-sore that we needed to shield from parents touring the school, it has been transformed into a featured area that we are proud to show off. This kind of improvement effort is exactly what will position LCR to be more ready for its next pastor. Even as the members of the Call Committee are engaged in the process of meeting with candidates, there is much work that can be done by everyone else in preparing for the arrival of the person the Holy Spirit is even now nudging into this position. Like Rob and Reiny discovered, lots of projects that can enhance the appeal of this ministry await those who have just a little imagination and willingness. There are a couple of rooms that could benefit from deep cleaning and/or repurposing in advance of visits by our candidates. Someone who enjoys painting could find spots that are crying out for some freshening. All you have to do is look around when you are here, and Im sure you will notice some small item that you could address with your God-given talents that would spruce up the place so that it all looks as good as the new garden. And while our giving has remained very strong during the interim period, for which I am grateful and for which you are to be commended, I know that the new pastor would feel greatly blessed if a steady upward surge in our financial support over these next few months provided a solid foundation for the programs that will need to get underway immediately upon arrival. Instead of scrambling to raise funds while building relationships with you, those dollars could already be in place – contributed in advance by members who are especially thankful for the many resources entrusted to them by God and want to use some of them to do a little extra to smooth the entry of their new leader. Talk about something that would make LCR look good! Both a beautiful campus and a solid balance sheet! If everyone does their part, its not only possible, but from what I have come to know about you, its a dream sure to become a reality. RESURRECTION TIMES

Pastor's Notes from Pastor Brad Stienstra

A wonderful addition to the campus of LCR since the last newsletter is the new garden area adjacent to the youth room and the preschool playground.

All you have to do is look around when you are here, and I’m sure you will notice some small item that you could address with your God-given talents that would spruce up the place so that it all looks as good as the new garden.

If everyone does their part, it’s not only possible, but from what I have come to know about you, it’s a dream sure to become a reality.

Preschool News

August is a quiet month at the preschool. Summer school has concluded and the teachers are all gone for the month.

We have lots of exciting things planned for our fall semester and after a few weeks of rest our teachers will be ready to get back and see all their little friends, both old and new. We are looking forward to another great year of exploring our world and figuring out where we fit in it! Fall is a wonderful time of the year when we look at the leaves as they change color, talk about Halloween and what we will be, and look forward to Thanksgiving. The very beginning of our year is all about getting to know our new friends and greeting our old ones. We talk about our families, our church, our school, our teachers, and learn new rules!

We look forward to a new school year, and all the blessings God has in store for us. It is both a privilege and a responsibility to be a part of these precious little lives and we take our role very seriously here at RLP. We thank the congregation for all of the support, prayer, money, and time and talents as we work to make this the very best preschool it can be. Here’s to another great year!

What a summer so far for the LCR Youth and Family Ministries! We kicked off the summer with a camping trip down to San Onofre with our high school youth and incoming freshmen. We spent time in fellowship and had fun in the sun! Eight high school youth and young adults headed out on the Japan Mission Trip in July. What a wonderful group to represent our church and to start the relationship with our friends overseas. It was a life changing experience for all who went. The end of July brings summer camp for six middle school youth and incoming 9

th graders!

They will spend a great week at El Camino Pines with Lutheran youth from all over the western states. Looking forward to August and Vacation Bible School! Watch your inbox for more events before we head back into the school year! Thank you for your continued prayers and support of our ministries!
