KAP Federal Leader and Member for Kennedy Bob Katte r MP is delighted to announce that the guidelines for the Stronger Communities Program me funding have been released by the Federal Government. (Please read the Guidelines do cument attached). “These are excellent little grants, we really need them to get small projects off the ground,” Mr Katter said. Under the Stronger Communities Programme funding of $150,000 per year will be available in 2015-16 and 2016-17 for the electorate of Kenned y, to support small capital projects to im-prove local community participation and contribute to the community’s vibrancy and viabil-ity. Funding programmes such as this provides significan t social benefits to small communities such as those within Kennedy. Mr Katter pointed out the example of a past small grant given to the community of Richmond. “A little tiny grant of $5,000 that was given to Ri chmond and it grew into a half a million dol-lar leading, interpretive, Mesozic museum,” Mr Katt er said. Grants of between $5,000 and $20,000 will be availa ble for projects with matched contribu-tions, in cash or in-kind, on at least a dollar for dollar basis. We encourage all community based incorporated not-f or-profit organisations, local govern-ing bodies and legal entities with small capital pr ojects in the local communities to make the most of the programme. The Regional Arts Fund is an Australian Government initiative that supports sustainable, community-based cul-

tural development in regional, remote and isolated areas of Australia. In Queensland, the Regional Arts Fund

(RAF) is managed by Artslink Queensland and delivered in two grant categories – The Community Projects

Grants and the Regional Quick Response Grants (RQRG) Programs

Applications for Round Two open on the 1 July and c lose 17 August for projects commencing after 1 Janu-ary 2016. All applications to be submitted online via Smartygrants. Assistance available for this program will be from a minimum of $5,000 up to a maximum of $30,000

It is anticipated that the majority of grants awarded in this category will be for short-term projects in the range of

$10,000 to $15,000. Applicants that were able to leverage other financial partners would be viewed positively.

The Regional Arts Fund (RAF) Community Project Program is assessed by the RAF Assessment Panel. All pro-

ject proposals must meet all RAF program criteria. Only in special circumstances will RAF support the entire

cost of a project. Proposals that identify support (both cash and in-kind) for projects from other funding sources

or generate income will be viewed more favourably.

Application Process – http://artslinkqld.com.au/reg ional-arts/regional-arts-fund/

View the Fund Guidelines to begin the application process. All applications are to be submitted online through

Smartygrants.

Applications should show evidence of adequate planning. Projects that seek support (in cash and in-kind) from

other sources and that generate income are encouraged. Such other support should be clearly identified.

Assistance is available across all artforms for projects which promote excellence in regional arts development,

improve access to the Arts for regional Queenslanders, recognise cultural diversity and raise the profile of the

arts within regional communities.

All applications are assessed by an independent panel appointed by The Minister for Regional Australia, Re-

gional Development, Local Government and the Arts, the Hon. George Brandis MP. The panel is drawn from the

State’s regional arts practitioners, art-forms and regional arts organisations.
