FUN FACT: WHAT'S WITH THAT TONGUE?

Frog’s tongues are attached to the front of their mouths rather than at the back like humans. When a frog catches an insectit throws its sticky tongue out of it’s mouth and wraps itaround its prey. The frog’s tongue then snaps back andthrows the food down its throat.

HTA ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB

Students who join HTA’s Environmental Club will learn

about the natural environment that we live in and how we ashumans impact our planet. Student members will help plan,

implement, and maintain a variety of different projects andactivities around the island.

Activities may include beach clean-ups, invasive species

removal, recycling programs, hiking, whale watching,composting, and other activities based upon student interests. Club meetings will takeplace both on Elluminate and at the learning center.

OPEN TO GRADES: 7-12

INITIAL MEETING DATES/TIMES:

High School: Monday, August 23 @ 2:00 (Gasda/Learning Center)Tuesday, August 24 @ 2:00 (Gasda/Elluminate)

Middle School: Tuesday, August 24 @11:00 (Zitello/Elluminate)

Wednesday, August 25 @ 10:45 (Zitello/Learning Center)Friday, August 27 @ 10:45 (Zitello/Learning Center)

Please contact Mr. Zitello (middle school students) or Mr. Gasda (high school students)with any questions regarding the club.

The gathering of HTA Ohana is an important part of our community development. For this reason, we

are planning our Back-2-School Bash and we are doing it potluck style. Each grade will be assigned

dishes/items as follows:

Grade K-2 – Drinks and/or Desserts

Grade 3-5 – Side DishesGrade 6 – Starch Dishes

Grade 7-8 – Main Dishes

Grades 9-10 - Drinks

Grades 11-12 – Desserts

Currently the Website is being updated but, RSVP for this event will be on www.MyHTA.org.

**Please bring a serving size for approximately 15 people.

TESTING TIME.GO TO:

www.MYHTA.org.

The computer lab will be reserved for testing thru August 19.

Please see the attached list for the day your child's grade level is

assigned.

Be sure to sign each child up in their own time slot.

OUTER ISLANDS: Virtual outer island students will be given usernames and

passwords to take their testing online. However, the Kauai students will need

to make arrangements to take their scantron at our Princeville LC site.
