    LOOKING BACK

    Fighting for Your Life-IntroductionEphesians 6:10-17

Are you ready? Ready or not, it is here…now. The invisible war. That makes it hard doesn’t it?

We can’t “see” it. Part of this fight is embracing it, owning it, admitting that it’s real. Take time

to review the entire passage, pray and meditate upon it before continuing.

    Thinking It Through (agree/disagree consider/contemplate)

I believe in the devil for two reasons. First, the Bible says so, and second, I have donebusiness with him.

    D.L. Moody

To me, Satan ultimately represents rebellion.

    Marilyn Manson

The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found difficult andleft untried.

    G.K. Chesterton

The spiritual warfare is defensive, not offensive, because the Lord Jesus has alreadyfought the battle and won the victory. The work of the church on the earth is simply tomaintain the Lord’s victory. The Lord has already won the battle, and the church is here

    to maintain His victory.

    LOOKING AHEAD

Fighting for Your Life-Controlled by Truth

    Ephesians 6:14

It is a fight…for your life. If that is true, then it is time to engage. In Ephesians 6:10-17, Paul

not only identifies the enemy, but gets quite practical in terms of what it takes to “win.” Let’s

take one “piece” at a time!

    1.

Begin by reading the entire text of 6:10-17. What are some of your more significant

    observations?

    2.

According to 6:11, upon what does success against the devil depend?

    3.

How does Paul emphasize the importance of the armor in relationship to standing firmin vs. 14-15? (note the sentence structure and verb tenses)

    4.

Why do you think Paul begins with “truth” as the first piece of armor? (See Genesis 3:1-

    4, John 8:25, 2 Corinthians 11:3, Revelation 12:9, 20:3,8)

    5.   According to John 8:32, what does the truth do for us? In what ways is truth

foundational to all the other pieces?

    6.   According to 2 Cor. 11:3, on what does Satan focus his attack in order to lead us

    astray?

    7.   According to Romans 12:2, what is the key to experiencing a transformed life?

    8.   According to 2 Corinthians 10:5, to what extent do we need to be controlled by truth?

    (see also Phil 4:8)

    9.

In John 17:17, Jesus prays for us. What do you learn about the truth from the first half

    of the verse?
