    Books of the Month

This month my books are both audio versions

since I listened to them while on vacation. Thefirst is a short novella by Stephen King, StationaryBike. The protagonist is out of shape and his doc-tor recommends exercise. He purchases a sta-tionary bike and paints the walls of his basementwith a road and scenery. However, after a time, the road begins to change and a truck can beheard following him. Is his experience on the bikereal or fantasy? My brother and I enjoyed thebuild-up of the suspense laced with humor. Nicesummer escape read.

Although I have read Shackletons Wayin paper, listening to this story was pretty riveting. Thebook, by Margot Morrell and Stephanie Cappar-elli, is actually about leadership. Although theSouth Pole expedition was a disaster, Shackle-tons leadership skills were such that he managedto bring back the entire group alive after two yearsstuck in the polar ice. A mix of travelogue andleadership, this is a great book to revisit every fewyears.
