This 174-acre green space represents a valuable regional community park surrounded by six vibrant neighborhoods. Working with the Atlanta Memorial Parks Conservancy, HGOR spearheaded a six-month long public input and participation process to develop a long-term master plan to revitalize the area. Transparency was paramount. To gain consensus among various stakeholders, HGOR presented design themes and plan options and invited public comment. Electronic voting technology ensured that design goals were in alignment with community values. The agreed-upon plan calls for increased passive green space for programming flexibility, a new 18-hole golf course and Pro-Shop, a pedestrian trail system and 12 new tennis courts atop 350 below grade parking spaces.
