ThemainprincipleofanASOSafetyContactMat
The structure ThebasicdesignprincipleoftheSENTIRmatconsistsoftwoconductiveplateswhichareseparatedbyarasterizedinsulating layer.Theseplatesarecompletelymoldedinapolyurethanematerialsotheyareimpervioustooil,wateranddirt. Thesurface is composedslip resistantandprovidesexcellent resistanceagainstoilandgrease.Cableexitscanbeplaced up to yourdemands.UsuallySENTIRmatisprovidedwithcornercableexitsandM8male&femaleconnectors.Eithermolded or aluminumramprailscanbeusedtoavoid trippinghazards.Furthermore, inadditiontoramprails,afixingrailcanbe providedifnecessary.
Signalprocessing TheSENTIRmat isusuallyfittedwith twin- cablesandoffers thepossibilityof connecting severalmats in seriesup toa maximumtotalareaof10m².Oneendofthecableisconnectedtoasafetyrelayandtheterminalresistanceisconnected totheotherend(setupbymanufacturer).Thesafetyrelayprovidesmonitoringfortheentirecircuit,includingcablingand mats,bymonitoringtheterminal resistance.Thetwoplatescontactwhensteppedonandtheresistance isbridged.This immediatelycausesasignalwithintheelectronicsthatisthengivenasapotentialfreerelayoutput.Atthesametimethe entire switching circuit iswire faultormanipulationmonitored. In caseof special requirements theSENTIRmat canbe producedfora4-wire-monitoring.
Pleasepayattentionto:
- Up to 10 Safety ContactMatswired in seriesmaybe connectedwithoneeva- luationcontrolunit. Themaximum total areamustnotexceed10m²!
- The total cable lengthmust not exceed 25m.
- The8.2KΩ terminal resistancemustbe connected to the last mat in series when severalmatsareconnected!
- Please inquire separately formatswith recessesorspecialshapes.

AssemblyofSENTIRmat14Whenusingcornerconnectorstheramprailhastobeshortened20mmforeachcornerconnector.Insertthecable-nearcornerconnectorfromabovetomakesurethecableisledthroughthecableduct(fig. 1).Thenattachtheramprailtothegroundwith6mmdowelsandappropriatescrews.Adjusttherampraillaterallytothematandplugitontheguidingpin(fig. 2).Markthefasteningpoints(Oneeach60cm)onthecenterlineoftheramprailandpre-drill10mmforthesealingplugs.Thenagainattachtheramprailtothegroundwith6mmdowels and appropriate screws and seal the wholes with the sealing plugs (fig. 3).Forfurtherramprailsfollowthesameinstructions.
ThefixationrailBS14isusedtofixSENTIRmatonthesidefacingthemachine.MountinginstructionsoftheramprailRS14applytofixationrailBS14aswell.Ifpossible,cablesshouldbeledoutlaterallyandconnectedtotheelectronicmonitoringdevices(fig. 5).

IfSENTIRmatareequippedwithametalsurface(ARBaluminum,TBVhighgradesteel),pleasenotethatthesurfaceMUSTNOTbegluedorfixedpermanentlytothemattoensuresafetyfunction.Instead,fixthemetalsurfacewithramprailRS14orfixationrailBS14.Multi-partmetalsurfacesaresupposedtobeconnectedwithconnectionbars(fig. 6).

InstallationAdjusttheSENTIRmataccordingtoyourneedsandfixthemtothefloorwithadequatedowelsandscrews(fig. 9).
Ifseveralmatsarelaidsidebyside,ithastobedoneverytightlytothejoint.Therefore,ramprailshavetobecutoffonthesideswhicharesupposedtobesequenced.Spraysoapywateroverknifeandgivencuttingslit(fig. 10).AdjusttheSENTIRmatsandprotectthem against displacement (fig. 11).Afterwardsconnectthematselectricallyandchecktheresistance.Theresistanceissupposednottovarymorethan500Ohmfrom8,2kOhminunactuatedcondition.

Pleasenoteforoversize:ThetotalspacerequirementofaSENTIRmatwithmolded ramp rail results from the space of the area tobesafeguarded(nominaldimensionofmat)andthewidthoftheramprail.ThewidthoftheramprailRS 14 is 35 mm (fig. 7).
Inorder toavoidany clampingorpinchingof thecables,cutthecableoutletonrequiredside(fig. 8).
