Hebrew Scope and content of collection Contains records related to Jewish immigrants to Palestine (and later the State of Israel) from various

countries in Central Europe, including Germany and Austria, starting from the immediate pre-war period. Includes correspondence and reports on various immigration-related and political issues, speeches by members of the Association, communication with various organizations, and protocols of the “new immigration” management center. Also includes the papers of Dr. Max Kreuzberger featuring correspondence regarding Jewish property restitution, war compensation and matters regarding immigration, especially child and youth immigration.

Historical note The New Aliyah Party (Hebrew: חדשה עלייה, Aliyah Hadasha lit. New Immigration) was a political party in

Mandate Palestine and Israel. The party was established in 1942 by immigrants from Austria and Germany who had arrived in Palestine during the Fifth Aliyah. In the fourth Assembly of Representatives formed in 1944, the party had 18 seats (from a total of 171), making it the third largest party after Mapai and the Left Front. The party's magazine was named Amudim (lit. Pages). In May 1948 party leader Pinchas Rosen became a member of the provisionial government. At the end of 1948 it merged with several other liberal parties, including the political arm of HaOved HaTzioni, to form the Progressive Party. Max Kreuzberger (1900-1978) was a prominent German Jew active in the affairs of the Irgun Olei Germania and a founder and former director of the Leo Baeck Institute.
