BARBERING CERTIFICATE www.cccc.edu PROGRAM INFORMATION The Barbering program at Central Carolina Community College was the first program of its kind in the North Carolina Community College System. Instruction is a combination of theory and hands-on training. Students will build their educational foundation with classroom work and then apply their acquired skills in a simulated environment. CCCC’s certified instructors will teach students the fundamentals of hair care, shampooing, cutting and styling, along with instructional components in shaving, beard and mustache trimming and cutting, facial massage, hair treatments, hygiene, and professional ethics. Advanced classes will cover coloring, hairpieces, and scalp treatments. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS • For admission information, please call (910)-814-8927. • To be admitted to this program, applicants must have a high school diploma or high school equivalency. • Submit an official high school transcript or official high school equivalency. • Submit additional information if it is requested. • Apply for and submit payment for a NC Barber Examiners Student Permit. Contact the Barbering Department, (910) 814-8927, to schedule a permit appointment. SCHEDULE OPTIONS Students have the ability to shape their educational experience by choosing a program that accommodates their career goals. The program can be started either in the fall semester (August) or in the spring semester (January). New students do not begin in the summer. Classes must meet their minimum enrollment to be offered. Certificate – Students enroll in Barbering I through Barbering IV. At the conclusion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the state board to become a licensed barber. Fall, Spring, and Summer Hours 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday (no Fridays) Students are expected to be appropriately dressed and prepared with materials for each class. Class attendance is crucial to graduating on time and in order to obtain the necessary 1,528 hours to take the state board. DRESS CODE,BARBERING KIT, ANDTEXTBOOKSThere is a required dress code forBarbering students. Males mustwear a shirt, tie, dress slacks, anddress shoes. Women must wear ablouse, dress slacks, and closedtoed shoes. Tennis shoes are notpermitted. Students are also required to wear a solid black smock. The Barbering kit and textbooks are available at the Central Carolina Community College Bookstore.

CAMPUS LOCATIONBarbering classes are instructed at the Dunn Center, 660 E. Johnson St., Dunn, NC 28335. The site is located 5 minutes from Interstate 95 and approximately 38 miles from the Lee Main Campus on Kelly Drive in Sanford and 14 miles from the Harnett Main Campus in Lillington. Students can contact a Barbering representative at (910) 814-8927. Haircuts and other services are available to the public for a minimal fee.

TRANSFER STUDENTSStudents interested in transferring from another Barbering program will need to provide all admission requirements in addition to documented hours and an official transcript that details prior course work. All hours and credit will be reviewed to determine advanced placement into the CCCC Barbering program.
