Cleanse your skin and slather on some moisturiser. Hold off on the primer and the foundation for now. Since we will be using darker colours on the eyes, work on the eyes first. This way you can remove any product that has fallen onto the rest of your face without having to remove the foundation.

Apply an eye primer all over the lids. This will help the shadow stay in place.

Go over the entire eyelid with a black cream shadow or a creamy black eye pencil (Pro

Tip: warm on the back of your hand before applying to make the texture creamier)

This month, Alia Bhatt has been everywhere. From the promotions to her film Kapoor and Sons to her birthday, she has impressed us with her beauty looks (particularly all those funky hairstyles!) She usually keeps her makeup quite natural but instead of doing a how-to on that look we decided to mix things up a bit. Alia doesn’t often do an intense look which we think suits her to the T. Even if she isn’t doing more of this look, there’s no reason you shouldn’t! Read on for a step-by-step for that intense, piercing gaze!

Next, go over the entire lid with a black powder shadow.

Lather of lots of mascara and line your upper and lower waterline using the same black pencil you used as a base.

Take a rounded

brush and run it through the

crease of your socket and gently

under the lower waterline!

Remove any product that might have fallen out onto your face and proceed to put primer and foundation.

Choose a subtle blush colour,

a light peach or pink shade

depending on your skin tone

Line your lips with a nude lip pencil and then go over with a flesh coloured gloss. For this look, I particularly like MAC Boldly Bare lip pencil and the lip gloss in the shade ‘Flesh’.

Use a silver powder shadow and with a flat brush

or your ring finger, apply

the silver onto the centre of your

eyelids. This will keep the intensity while giving your eyes dimension and that pop!

Sushant Singh Rajput has had a quiet few months but that all is about to change. The actor shared the first poster from the M S Dhoni biopic, where he is playing the titular role and we couldn’t be more excited. The film has been in the news for a while and we hear the star cricketer himself too is happy with how the story and the film have been shaping up. Can the ‘reel’ Dhoni hit it out of the stadium the way the real Dhoni does? Only time will tell, but in the meantime we have our fingers crossed!

Bollywood is fast becoming famous for its bromance more than romance! Ranveer Singh went along to Farhan Akhtar’s live gig to support his ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ co-star and the audiences couldn’t be happier. What could be better than our favourite B-town men showingeach other some big love!

Over the past couple of years Alia Bhatt has definitely become the queen bee of social media. How apt then that for her 23rd birthday her sister, Shaheen Bhatt and BFF Akansha Ranjan got her a cake with – you guessed it – an edible smart phone on it! And the phone screen is even funnier – Alia Bhatt googling well, Alia Bhatt. Shaheen and Aksansha Super cute!

We bring you the roundup of the trending Instagram posts from the fortnight. Definitely #InstaHOT, we say!

The ladKi and ladKa from R Balki’s upcoming film have been on a promotional spree for the film that releases on April 1st. Ki & Ka sees the ultimate role reversal with Arjun playing a house-husband and Kareena being the breadwinner. It’s not a topic that Bollywood delves on often and we are eager to see how it’s tackled this time around. Arjun shared this rather cute behind the scenes photo from the promotions. Arjun thinks Kareena is his coolest co-star ever – and we agree!

#Instah t

Ever since Ellen took that famous starry selfie at the Oscars, we’ve seen quite a few recreations of it. This one shared by Ali Zafar from the Girl Rising campaign event in Dubai has got to be one of the coolest thus far. Getting Mathew McConaughey, Salma Hayek, Parineeti Chopra, Abhishek Bachchan with him in one frame is quite a feat – what say?

How should two grown-ups deal with fallouts in personal relationships – hopefully not the wayHrithik Roshan andKangana Ranaut havegone! While all lookshunky–dory from this

photo, we know all is not well. Hrithik sent a legal notice to Kangana for ‘spreading rumours’ about an alleged relationship and calling him a ‘silly-ex’ and

Ms Ranaut counter-sued, saying that among other things, Hrithik hacked into her email inbox and deleted the emails he had sent to her. Whatever the case is, we hope the two can reach an amicable settlement!

Seems like Arjun Kapoor is not the only guy in Bollywood trying to be a good husband – Akshay Kumar had a day off and decided to drop into the studio where wife Twinkle Khanna was in the middle of a photo shoot – and with a packed lunch for her! Akshay shared this photo from the visit with wifey and his co-star from Desi Boys, John Abraham.

Ingredients2 tablespoons cooking oil1 large onion, thinly sliced4 cloves garlic, minced1 teaspoon ground cumin1 teaspoon ground coriander

Ingredients500g lamb/mutton cleaned and washed3 tbsp chana dal/chick pea lentils soaked in water for half an hour3-4 green chillies2 tbsp chopped coriander leavessalt - to taste1 tbsp red chilli powder1 tbsp ginger garlic paste1 cinnamon stick1 tsp elaichi powder½ tsp turmeric powderoil for shallow frying

Method1. Add the meat to a

pressure cooker and roast for about two minutes. Add salt, ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, and stir. Then add green chillies, chopped coriander leaves, 1 cinnamon stick, elaichi powder and the soaked chana dal. Add in 1tbsp oil and 1 cup of water, and pressure cook the whole mixture until the meat is completely tender or for about 4-5 whistles. If there is any water remaining in the mixture then cook it until the water is absorbed totally.

2. Allow the mixture of meat

to cool down completely. Blend the mixture into a fine paste (do not add water) and rest the dough paste in refrigerator for about 10 - 15 minutes for the mutton paste to become thick. The mixture can be left in the refrigerator at this stage until the kebabs are desired.

3. When you want to fry, take a small ball portion of the meat mixture, apply oil on palms and make a round or oval shaped kebab. Make as many kebabs as you prefer until the mixture is used up. Heat

a pan with about 2 tbsp oil and shallow fry until a golden brown colour appears at the bottom side of the kebab. Brush a little oil over the top of the kebabs and flip them then continue shallow frying until golden brown.

4. Serve the kebabs with fresh lemon and onions, and eat with dal and roti.

With a long weekend approaching and Easter on the horizon, it’s likely that you might have a crowd of family and friends to feed soon! If you have a lot of guests to entertain, good meal options are things which can be made in advance and

meals which can be shared between many people to create a friendly and casual atmosphere. Here are some dishes we think are perfect for sharing with those you love:

skillet over medium heat. Cook the onion

and garlic in the hot oil until the onions are soft and golden brown, about 5 minutes.

2. Sprinkle the cumin, coriander, turmeric, and chilli powder over the onion and garlic; continue cooking until the seasonings are fragrant, about 30 seconds.

3. Pour the pureed tomatoes into the skillet; cook until the excess liquid

evaporates and the oil separates, 3 to 5 minutes. Add the paneer, water, sugar, and salt to the mixture; stir gently so the paneer does not break apart.

4. Cook until the paneer begins to absorb some of the liquid, about 10 minutes. Stir the cream into the mixture and simmer another 5 minutes. Garnish with cilantro to serve.

Method1. Boil whole potatoes in salted

water until they are easy to peel- they should not be mushy. If you have the larger variety of small potatoes, cut them in half. While potatoes are boiling, grind together the tomatoes, red chili, ginger and garlic. Set aside.

2. Prick the peeled and boiled potatoes with a fork and lightly sauté in 1 tbsp canola oil until they have a light golden crust and set aside on a plate. While the potatoes are frying, make a powder of the cloves, cardamoms, fennel seeds and whisk the powder with the yogurt. Set aside.

3. In a pan, heat the remaining 1 tbsp canola oil, and add the tomato mixture. Cook, stirring frequently for 5-7 mins or until the raw smell of tomatoes and garlic is gone.

4. Add the yogurt mixture slowly to the pan, continue stirring for 1-2 minutes. Add salt to taste, cumin powder and garam masala. If it looks dry, add about 1/2 cup of water at this point, and cook for 5 minutes on low heat.

5. Add the potatoes, stir well, cover and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the gravy is moderately chunky.

6. Garnish with cilantro if you like, and serve!

Wondering what colour to paint your cabinets? The kitchen industry’s leading manufacturers say that while white cabinets continue to be tops, grey is the shade they’re betting on to break white’s top spot. This Tiverton Slate range by Wickes shows a classy and contemporary look that is not only trendy but will hold strong.

The look may change as styles evolve, but the appeal of a black-and-white kitchen never dies. It’s all about high contrast — this design from IKEA juxtaposes white lacquer cabinets (from IKEA’s LIDINGÖ line) and Absolute Black granite countertops, but it also benefits from the tension between country and modern. Warm rustic hardwood floors are an effective counterpoint to sleek cabinet materials.

Not only is the colour of kitchen cabinets changing — hardware manufacturers, like Blum, are changing the way cabinet doors and drawers function. These hydraulic, easy-close doors fold up and out of the way with the touch of a button making them perfect for kitchens where space is an issue

Kitchens are undeniably the heart of today’s homes so, understandably, you want your kitchen to look its best. Even if you aren’t in the market for a total re-do, one or two trendy updates will bring your

kitchen into the 21st century.

Here are our top six tips.

Like kitchen cabinets, sinks are trending away from basic white or stainless steel. This eye-catching green apron-front sink by Kohler was designed by tastemaker Jonathan Adler. A colourful sink is a great way to pop in a small amount of colour in a neutral kitchen or make it more of a focal point by using the same hue in the backsplash. UK stock is not as easily available, but if you don’t mind spending a bit extra and shipping it over from the US you certainly will be the talk of the town.

Kitchen storage is always an issue, especially for people living in apartments or any homeowner whose kitchen is short on space. To remedy this, manufacturers like Hafele are doubling up storage in new, custom kitchens with clever multi-tiered drawers. Image courtesy of Hafele

The kitchen of the future is here today. From sensor-activated lights that illuminate the kitchen only when it’s in use to meat thermometers that alert your smartphone when dinner is done, kitchen technology is here to make your life easier. If you’re new to automation, a great introductory product is a hands-free faucet, like this one by Moen. Perfect for homes with small children who can’t yet reach the handle or any kitchen where busy cooks often have sticky hands.

ShowbizPreity Zinta talks about hubby post marriage

Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Kaabil’ has found some excellent villains. Ronit Roy and Rohit Roy, who interestingly also are real brothers, have been finalized to play the baddies in this revenge drama. They will be seen fighting against Hrithik Roshan in the movie which begins shooting next month.

This is the first time they are playing villains together. Although having previously played brothers in 2005 political drama ‘Sarkaar’ on Zee TV, their characters were not negative. Ronit has always mesmerized audiences with his versatility and has excelled in both good and bad roles,

but Rohit has played only good guys so far. So it will be interesting to see both of the real brothers in villainous personas together!

“Rohit and Ronit, who have played brothers on the small screen, are working together for the first time in a film. They’re pure evil in the film and Gupta is working on giving them deadly looks. It will be a complete makeover for the Roy brothers,” a source close to the film recently said to a leading daily.

Besides Hrithik, Ronit and Rohit, Kaabil also stars Yami Gautam,

Sonu Sood and Girish Kulkarni in leading roles. Sudeep Chatterjee has been roped in as the cinematographer while Resul Pookutty will do the sound design for the film. Produced by Rakesh Roshan under FilmKraft Productions and music by Rajesh Roshan, the film is scheduled to release on January 26, 2017.

Bollywood’s dimpled beauty Preity Zinta, who is enjoying

marital bliss these days, has recently

spilled the beans on her hubby Gene Goodenough during a

chat with her fans.

In a recent Twitter chat, ‘the Soldier’ actress revealed that her

41-year-old handsome husband is 6 feet and 1 inches tall and

is trying to save the world by working with renewable energy.

In addition to this, when her fans asked her to share a video

of her wedding festivities, she replied, “Best videos are the

ones that get etched in ur memory, Moreover with a video

around It would have felt like a shoot.”

Few days back, the 41-year-old actress flaunted her “choora”

in a picture shared on her Instagram, writing, “The only thing

new about marriage is having to wear a #Choora for a couple

of days.”

Preity got married to her longtime friend Gene Goodenough

earlier this month in an intimate ceremony in Los Angeles. It

was also reported that she will put the wedding images

for auction and will donate

the proceedings generated to charity.

Veteran actor Prem Chopra says physical difficulties or lack of work often make people retire and no artiste from the film industry retires voluntarily. At the launch of the first look of his film “Udanchoo”, Chopra was asked about still working at the age of 80.“It’s a good thing, till the time I keep receiving work, and till the time I have the courage, I’ll keep working. There is no artist in the film industry, or any technician, who would wish to retire voluntarily,” Chopra said.

“There are only two reasons -- one is they become physically unable, so then they are not capable to work, like numerous of our huge artistes like Dilip Kumar, Shashi Kapoor or Shammi Kapoor who had become unfit physically, and stopped working.“And the other reason is if you stop receiving work on the basis of your age, it happens sometimes. You can say I’m one of the lucky ones that I’m still going on, and still get the chance to come in some films.”

Chopra has been one of the most popular villains in Indian cinema and worked in numerous films right from the 1960s. Though work has reduced, he has been seen in recent films like “I Love NY” and “Agent Vinod”.

Everything on ‘Holiday 2’ is speculation: Sonakshi Sinha

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma, who will next be seen in “Sultan”, will wrap the shooting of the Ali Abbas Zafar directorial by next month.

Zafar, who has previously directed films like “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan” and “Gunday”, took to Twitter on Monday night to share that only 30 days are left now for the film to wrap up.

“75 days of shoot over for ‘Sultan’, last 30 days left... Feels like just started shooting. Time flies,” Zafar tweeted.

This will be the first time Salman and Anushka will be seen sharing screen space together.

The film will feature Salman as a wrestler. He has gained weight for his character. Even Anushka has undergone rigorous training for six weeks for her role as a wrestler in “Sultan”.

“Sultan” will release on July 8.

Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha, who was rumoured to be a part of the sequel of Akshay Kumar starrer “Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty”, says these is mere speculation and that people should wait for an official announcement.

The 28-year-old actress said she doesn’t even know if “Holiday 2” will happen or not.

“I have not even heard of ‘Holiday 2’ happening or not happening. I think everything right now that is going around is speculations. You should just wait for an announcement from me,” Sonakshi told IANS.

“Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty”, directed by A.R. Murugadoss, was appreciated for its thrilling narrative when it released in 2014.

On the work front, Sonakshi has two films in her kitty -- “Akira” and “Force 2”.

“Akira” will be the “Dabangg” star’s second film with Murgadoss after “Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty”. She will be seen performing martial arts in “Akira”, which also features her father and actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha.

“Force 2”, on the other hand, stars actors John Abraham and Tahir Raj Bhasin, and is directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah.

Harrison Ford excited about playing Indiana Jones for 5th timeOne of the most memorable and iconic action heroes of all time, Indiana Jones is all set to return with the fifth film from the popular franchise. Renowned actor Harrison Ford is once again all set to take on some new bad guys, reprising his role of Indiana Jones for the fifth time.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live! the 73-year-old actor got nostalgic and revealed the reason for taking on the role once again.

The actor said, “I’ll be ready, I’m excited about this. It’s the opportunity to work with Steven Spielberg again on this character, a chance to revisit this character which has brought pleasure to so many. Not to mention me. Its great fun to play this character, its great fun to work with Steven; I’m looking forward to it.”

Spielberg, 69, directed all four previous Indiana Jones films and will helm the new project, which is all set to hit theatres on July 19, 2019.

Harrison will be 77-years-old when the movie is released. When asked about the idea for the film this time and if the producers have come up with something that he loved, he said, I haven’t read the script. We’re talking about the contract!

Earlier this year, Harrison thrilled all his audiences by revisiting the legendary role of Han Solo in Stars Wars: The Force Awakens. While many Star Wars fans were shocked and saddened with the doomed fate of his beloved character in the climax of The Force Awakens, Harrison Ford was more than happy to bid farewell to Han Solo.

“You work for, like, 25 years for the

company, you do your best, you show up every day, you do your job, and then they just let you go. Shocking!” Ford, 73, said on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

However, Ford said he had been pushing for his character to die from the beginning. I argued for 30 years for this to happen and finally I wore them down, he added. When asked if the character of Han Solo would continue in the franchise or if his death was his final scene, Fords lips were sealed.

Production banner Warner Bros. has listed actor-filmmaker Ben Affleck’s “Live by Night” for an October 20, 2017 release.

The film is an adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s Prohibition-era crime novel of the same name, reports hollywoodreporter.com.

Apart from directing, Affleck also stars in the film as the prodigal son of a Boston police captain (Brendan Gleeson) who grows to be a criminal gangster.

The film also features Sienna Miller, Zoe Saldana, Chris Messina and Scott Eastwood, among others.

Elijah Wood to star in ‘Dirk Gently’

Revealed: Akshay Kumar’s

Villainous Look In

Robot 2.0Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar will soon be essaying the role of a villain in Robot 2.0. The actor is almost unrecognisable in the new pictures that were leaked.

Akshay Kumar’s pictures in his villainous avatar are bound to shock his fans, as Akshay is seen sporting long eye bushes, grey hair and a feathered leather jacket. According to reports, Akshay Kumar’s character in Robot 2.0 is of Dr Richard, a scientist, who turns into a crow after a freak accident during an experiment.

The film is a sequel to south megastar Rajinikanth’s hit film Robot (Enthiran).

Though Akshay Kumar has starred in several South film remakes, this is the first time that the action superstar will be seen playing a mainstream role in a Tamil film, where he will be seen at logger heads with Rajinikanth in high-octane action scenes.

The film also stars Amy Jackson and is slated to release in 2017.

Actor Elijah Wood has been roped in to star in the upcoming comedy series “Dirk Gently”.

Made by writer and director

Max Landis, the series will star Wood as Todd, the assistant to the title character, an eccentric detective, reports variety.com.

The series is based on the “Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency” novels by late Douglas Adams.

The series, an absurdist comedy, will feature Wood’s character and the titular detective teaming to solve one overarching mystery in the course of the season.

Wood is the star of “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy and the comedy series “Wilfred”, which ran for three seasons.

Following on from the amazing success of their first single ‘Yaar Nachda’ ft Nirmal Sidhu, super-producers Shaan & Verinder are back with a second helping to whet our appetite even further!

Teaming up this time with the brilliant Bhinda Jatt, the London boys bring us the much

anticipated single ‘Truck’.

Bhinda Jatt, known as the California King and a recognisable voice of folk music, worked closely alongside Sukshinder Shinda to deliver the hit albums ‘Folk Warrior of California’ & ‘California King’.

The production quality on the track is, as expected,

second to none. Verinder says: “We have aimed to keep Bhinda Jatt’s original sound alive by preserving the folk elements of bhangra and adding our own signature sound.”

Shaan adds: “Being big fans of folk music and in particular the production and musical abilities of Sukshinder Shinda shown on Bhinda Jatt’s albums in his early days. It’s a great achievement to be collaborating with him as we have grown up listening to his music and been inspired by his sound in many ways.”

The duo embarked on a adventure to showcase a new generation of music displaying

versatility and variation whilst upholding the traditional elements that Asian music has become accustomed to. Judging by ‘Yaar Nachda’ and now ‘Truck’, it seems their mission is proving successful.

The accompanying ‘performance’ is directed by Guvy Heer and features a guest appearance by the world famous lyricist Jandu Littranwala who has penned a number of hit songs including the global classic ‘Giddhian Di Rani’.

‘Truck’ releases on the 31st March 2016 on the Moviebox label via iTunes and other digital platforms.

on rocky handsome, his personal journey and lots more

I’m very secure about my

space

Page 22: Asian Style mag, Mar issue 2

22 INTERVIEW March 2016, 2nd Edition

The trailer looks fantastic - congratulations on that. To be honest, the title itself is quite an interesting one – ‘Rocky Handsome’ – how did you zero in on that?

I give Nishikant Kamat, the director, the credit for the title because the first few days of the shooting of the film, I was wearing this black suit, and Nishikant kept telling me ‘John, you are looking really handsome’ . By day four, he turned around and said ‘why don’t we call this film Rocky Handsome’ – he actually wanted to call it ‘Johnny Handsome’ and then we thought that John, Johnny is a bit too close and it’s better to call it Rocky Handsome and that just stuck. Also, that is what the film is about as well because this little girl keeps calling this guy, who is my character, handsome. She says ‘you look like a criminal but you are quite good looking. Jaantay ho tumhein log kya boltay hain? Handsome’ . She’s very fond of this guy, poking him and all. It is a beautiful relationship that they share. Somewhere through the film you realise his name is Rocky, so overall we though that the title ‘Rocky Handsome’ was really apt for the film.

Those moments with you and the little girl are extremely cute. You two clearly share an adorable chemistry. But was it difficult to work with an actor that young?

You know, I think, Dia, the little girl, changed

my perception that all children and animals are really difficult to work with [laughter]. She was absolutely fantastic. She is such a positive kid and she brought a lot of positivity to the set. Initially we were all nervous about working with a child but she was a dream to work with and so easy going and always smiling. She’s a gymnast so every other day she would come to my van and say ‘John, I’ve learnt a new thing’ and then she would do backflips in the van! She was just such a bundle of positive energy on the set. I am very proud of her performance and we were really lucky to have gotten such a lovely girl.

Moving away slightly, you are one of the few models who have made the switch into acting so successfully and despite a long period where you were stereotyped into certain kinds of roles, you have managed to break that stereotype. Was it difficult to get rid of that image?

Yeah, I think so. It was. I think it would have

been even more difficult if I had made it difficult for myself, but I didn’t. I am a smart human being and what I thought was that if people knew me for my body then I positioned myself in that space, even for Dostana, etc, and I said ‘if this is what you like, then this is what you are going to get’. It was when I produced Vicky Donor and Madras Café that people realised that this guy has more to offer- there is just not an X-axis and Y-axis to this guy, there’s actually Z-axis too. And there’s avery three-dimensionalapproach to his thinkingand the perception ofJohn Abraham in theminds of the peoplehas completely taken au-turn since and therehas been a complete180 degrees shift. Theyare like ‘Woah – oh mygod, we didn’t expectthis from him.’ I thinka lot of this comes outof self-conviction andwhile there were doubtsin the minds of people– and when I say peopleit’s mostly our ownrespected trade - I hada lot of self-conviction.I knew I could makea difference, I knew

that I had a voice that needed to be heard and that confidence is only because of my audience.

The films that you have produced have been very relevant and very different to the mainstream cinema of the time. Vicky Donor, on paper, is still about a topic that many would find difficult to speak about openly and still it did really well. The reception that it received from all quarters was frankly fabulous. And again Vicky Donor and Madras Café themselves were very different from each other. What factors are you looking at when approaching a film from the producer’s point of view?

I just look at one thing really. My biggest, most fundamental prerequisite is content. You have to tell the right story and you have to tell the story rightly. So you look at the director and you have to make sure that they are worth it; so content and director firstly and then screenplay and how it is

Page 23: Asian Style mag, Mar issue 2

23INTERVIEW March 2016, 2nd Edition

mounted and presented to the final audience. These are the main things. A lot of people have noticed that I do fewer films now – the only reason I take that long is that I spend a lot of my time on content creation. I work on ideas that I think are special. And most of my ideas are usually thrown out by the studios, because studios are corporates – they understand thefinancial side – theywant a balance sheet butnot much else. But I liketo think I go beyond justthe numbers – I like tofunnel and fuel my ideaswith my own finances -the finances that I havebuilt rather than be at

the mercy of the studio heads who sometimes just don’t understand what the heck is going on. But actually when my films releases, the same studio will call me up to congratulate me!

You get along like a house on fire with the younger lot – whether it is launching Ayushmann Khurana in Vicky Donor or the equation that you share with Varun Dhawan that we have been seeing in a lot of stills and behind the scene images from sets of Dishoom as well as your interaction on social media. What would say about this

camaraderie that you share with the younger lot?

I just think that I came into the industry at the wrong time. Now finally I am spending a lot of time with like-minded people. Better late than never I say! [laughter] And I really enjoy my time with the younger lot – because I think that they come with no baggage and they are clean people – they are open, they are transparent and I say this about Ayushmann and Varun in the same breath. They are just such lovely people – not only them – you talk to an Arjun or a Sidharth – all of them actuallyare just really lovelyguys and I really likespending time withthem. As a producer Iwant to create contentfor them. I want toproduce films for them.

It must be tricky! Wouldn’t you say producing films for other actors is quite

selfless for an actor’s point of view?

Yeah but if I don’t think that way then I would kill myself like any other older actor would in terms of security. You know what I am saying? You need to be secure about your space, and I am very secure. Like I understand that my space is that of an action hero – like someone just said to me recently that you seem to be the last action hero. So it is cool when you hear something like that. In fact, I would really like to work with the younger lot. Like Varun and I genuinely have such a great time – we don’t know how quickly time passes on the set. With Sonakshi too, we have only about 15 days of the shoot left and that we have already done 45 days of the shoot!

‘Rocky Handsome’ hit screens on March 25th and we are looking forward to John packing a punch at the theatres!

Dear Ayesha, I am not much of a makeup user and I

essentially save the effort for special occasions only. I have a few eye shadows that I bought a couple of years ago and have held onto them because they suit me. They are also all very good quality products from high-end brands. My issue is that the last two times that I have done heavy eye makeup, I have ended up with red eyes that have often become itchy. This does become better within a day usually so I have not seen a doctor yet. What could be the problem?

(Jeevan R, Birmingham)

Ayesha Says: Dear Jeevan: It sounds to me

like you are experiencing a reaction to one of the ingredients in the eye makeup that you are using. Also, you say that you have had the same makeup for many years now and that could be the problem. Although makeup does not have an expiry date as such, it is strongly advised to

throw away any unused product after 6 months to 2 years; 6 months max for any eye makeup while foundations and face powders can be used for up to 2 years. It is highly likely that your eye makeup has developed some kind of bacteria which is now causing the reaction.

I would recommend getting rid of the older eye makeup and sanitizing any tools and brushes that have come into contact with this makeup. Give your eyes a few days’ rest and then start afresh. I hope this helps but if the problem does persist, please seek medical advice.

Ever wondered about how to carry off the latest beauty trend of the season? Or what products to use to make those dark circles disappear? Well help is finally here. Send in your queries to our resident hair and makeup

specialist Ayesha Babar to [email protected], and we will get you your answers!

Q

Dear Ayesha, I am very concerned about my teenage daughter as the quality of her hair has become very bad recently. She has taken to styling her hair recently and even though we have bought her the best products, the damage is

still there. It is weak, and breaks easily and has become much drier in texture. What can I advise her to do?

(Sumbul J, London)

Ayesha Says: Dear Sumbul: while the texture and quality of our hair does depend a lot on our genes, taking care of the hair is imperative. Does your daughter style her hair often using heated stylers and tools? If that is the case, you need to speak to

her to reduce the heat exposure. The teenage years are when we are discovering our bodies and also is the time when we tend to experiment with our hair the most. Give her confidence in the texture / natural style of her hair so that she feels less compelled style it as often.

It will also be worthwhile to start using some natural products once a week to return the lost nourishment and moisture to the hair. Depending on the hair type, a mixture of eggs, yogurt and olive oil is usually effective.

I need your suggestion for a foundation that I can wear to work every day. I am currently using a mineral foundation from a high street brand but I feel that wearing it every day is making my skin look dull. Which one should I choose?

(Rachel, London)

Ayesha Says: Dear Rachel: Wearing foundation every day and for long hours can start damaging our skin quality and pores. If you must wear foundation every day, I would suggest you develop a thorough

skin care regime which should include removing the makeup with a gentle yet effective makeup cleanser as soon as you get home. Try to give your skin at least 8 – 10 hours of breathing time if possible.

In the meantime, I would recommend that you try out a tinted moisturiser or a bb cream as these are a combination of moisturisers and foundation and are less harsh on the skin. MAC and Laura Mercier both do really good tinted moisturisers and if you wish to stick to a less expensive option then check out Bourjois, Maybelline and Rimmel. Don’t let go of the skin care routine though as regardless of whatever you apply, it will help protect your skin in the long run.A

suppliers, priest/registrar, DJ, and so on. With everyone arriving at different times you’ll need someone on point to let them know what’s happening and what needs to be done. But it’s not just the vendors – think about the extended bridal party for example, who may need someone to answer their questions and deal with the chaos.

Planning a wedding can be daunting. There are so many things that need to be done and so many people to deal with - just the thought itself can be exhausting. With more couples than ever before working full time and living away from home, it can be difficult to juggle everything all at once, which is why more and more couples are opting to hire a wedding planner.

If you’re thinking of going down the route of hiring a wedding planner but aren’t entirely sure if it’s for you, then here is a very quick breakdown of some of the things that he or she would be expected to do.

STICK TO TIMINGS

FINAL CHECKS

Weddings are a stressful time and can often result in people being oversensitive about even the tiniest of things. A wedding planner will ensure the immediate family of the bride and groom feels settled and relaxed and enjoys the day. Whether someone needs a piece of clothing adjusted or help moving luggage – a planner will have it covered.

There’s always so much going on at the wedding that it’s sometimes difficult to know who will be overseeing some of the tiny details like lighting the candles or putting out the favour boxes. Your guest book needs to be laid out correctly and all your items certainly need to be collected at the end of the night – these are all things your planner will do for you!

Depending on the wedding planning company you choose there will most likely be someone with the bride at all times to make sure she has everything she needs. This also applies to the groom but when it comes to Asian weddings, he’s usually called upon first so while this is happening there will be someone around to ensure the bride’s make up is spot on and talk through any last minute nerves (if there are any).

Touching on the point above, you’ll want someone around who can look after your things so you’re filled with peace of mind on the day. Whether you need someone to carry your lipstick, your phone or need important sets of keys tucked safely away, your wedding planner can take complete charge of this.

A wedding planner will distribute a detailed schedule to all of the suppliers ahead of the big day with every final detail accounted for. And though there may be times when you will over run by 10-15 minutes or so, on the whole, wedding planners are good at sticking to timings and making sure everything happens exactly as discussed with the bride and groom prior to the big day.

Once the décor company have finished setting up your planner will do a final check and walk around every room to ensure it is laid out exactly as per the bride and groom’s wishes. Everything needs to be cross-checked against floor plans and dietary lists to make sure no one is missed and no mistakes are made. The same checks need to be carried out before the food goes out and while any entertainment may be setting up.

The main thing your wedding planner will do is to give you peace of mind for every aspect of your event. Your focus should be enjoying your day and smiling for the camera, not worrying about who is doing what. Your family should be by your side and visible in the shots and for everything else, your chosen pro will be fluttering around and ensuring all goes to plan, which is we believe that hiring a wedding planner may just be the best investment you make for your big day.

An experienced planner will always carry an emergency kit with them containing weird and wonderful objects in case there is any kind of problem. You name it and most likely they’ll have it in their treasure box. At Carriages we’ve had all sorts of incidents where we’ve had to whip out the superglue, measuring tape and even a few cleaning products. You always have to be prepared for anything that may come your way.

What passing-bells for these who die as cattle?

Only the monstrous anger of the guns.

Only the stuttering rifles’ rapid rattle

Can patter out their hasty orisons.

No mockeries now for them; no prayers nor bells;

Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs,

The shrill, demented choirs of wailing shells;

And bugles calling for them from sad shires.

What candles may be held to speed them all?

Not in the hands of boys, but in their eyes

Shall shine the holy glimmers of good-byes.

The pallor of girls’ brows shall be their pall;

Their flowers the tenderness of patient minds,

And each slow dusk a drawing-down of blinds.

Wilfred Owen was an English poet and solider, and was one of the leading poetic voices of the period following the end of the First World War. He is known worldwide as one of the greatest anti-war poets of all time, for his graphic and realistic depictions of the horrors of war and his fierce devotion to peace.

Wilfred was born in 1893 in Shropshire, and was one of four children. He discovered a love of poetry early on in life, and worked for several years as a private tutor in England and France. He suffered from shell shock following a number of traumatic experienced during the war, and spent some time recuperating alongside famed poet

Siegfried Sassoon, who was a great friend and big influence on Owen’s work. Owen was killed in action in November 1918 aged just 25, exactly one week before the signing of the armistice which ended the war. His family received the news of his death at the same time as end of the war was announced and celebrated. The majority of his best-known works were published posthumously.

He is best remembered worldwide for his unapologetic opposition to the traditional ideas of war as a glorious and honourable thing, and for his ongoing wish for peace throughout his short lifetime.
