1. Pont Des Arts, Yue Minjun, Meursault, Burgundy, France 2012(13.5%), 100% Chardonnay
Medal: Bronze (DAWA 2015)
Decanter tasting notes: Clean, fresh and well-evolved, with classy, restrained aromas and subtle intensity and tension on the palate. Typical bready notes and judicious use of oak.

2. Ashwell, Reserve Pinot Noir, Martinborough, Wairarapa, New Zealand 2009(14.3%), 100% Pinot Noir
Medal: Silver (DAWA 2014)
Decanter tasting notes: Wonderful evolution here, showing very soft tannins, perfectly integrated oak, and lovely pure fruit notes on both nose and palate. Rich, elegant and moreish, with pretty secondary notes of earth, smoke and bacon. Captivating stuff.

3. Château Hourtin-Ducasse, Bordeaux, Haut-Médoc, France 2011(12.5%), 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc
Medal: Commended (DAWA 2015)
Decanter tasting notes: Savoury nose, of leather and mushroom. The palate is fresh plum with truffle and spice.

4. Moulin de Gassac, Pont de Gassac, IGP Hérault, Languedoc-Roussillon, France 2014(13%), 35% Syrah, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot
Medal: Bronze (DAWA 2015)
Decanter tasting notes: A mature serious nose of sweet spice and barnyard hints. The palate is big with good fruit intensity and lots of spice and herbal hints, good complex wine.

5. C.C. Jentsch Cellars, Syrah, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada 2013(13.8%), 100% Syrah
Medal: North American Red Regional Trophy (DAWA 2015)
Decanter tasting notes: A clean, charming example of Syrah, showing rhapsodic purity of fresh berry fruit through to the fresh, persistent finish. Fabulous structure and gorgeously soft tannins play in perfect harmony with the rich flavour profile, setting sweet fruit against lovely shades of peppery spice and meaty smoke.A delicious Gold.

6. Tinazzi, Monterè Ca’de’Rocchi, Veneto, Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore, Italy 2013(14%), 80% Corvina, 15% Rondinella, 5% Molinara
Medal: Silver (DAWA 2015)
Decanter tasting notes: Utterly textbook and intense Valpolicella, high acidity winds through the structurally precise palate, allowing intense fruit flavour to boom against dense, cushiony tannin to the lingering finish. Balanced, elegant and classic.

7. Ferraro, Madonna Alta, Sagrantino di Montefalco, Umbria, Italy 2010(14.5%), 100% Sagrantino
Medal: Silver (DAWA 2015)
Decanter tasting notes: Lovely dark-fruited nose with an appealing undercurrant of rose jam. Dense palate with firm, sweet tannins, a tasty smoked, cured meat background and a spicy note on the finish. Will keep for a further five years.

8. Fondo del Sole, Mediterraneo, Salento, Puglia, Italy 2014(14.5%), 50% Primitivo, 30% Negramaro, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon
Medal: Bronze (DAWA 2015)
Decanter tasting notes: Intense prune, fig and oak-derived spices. Very concentrated on the palate with lovely tannins, good refreshing acidity, intense black plum, black cherry and licorice flavours, ending long and juicy.

9. Feudo di Santa Croce, Celebration LXXIV, Puglia, Primitivo di Manduria, Italy 2013(14.5%), 100% Primitivo
Medal: Silver (DAWA 2015)
Decanter tasting notes: Intense and delicious black plum nose, with some sweet oak, dark fruit and violets.The palate is full and round with bright sweet focused black fruit, milk chocolate, and lovely refreshing acidity, good use of oak gives a long complex delicious finish.

10. Paradisone, Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy 2010(14.5%), 100% Sangiovese
Medal: Gold (DAWA 2015)
Decanter tasting notes: Earthy aromas permeate the bouquet, with rounded mushroom and savoury farmyard aromas front and centre. Focused dark cherry fruit is laced with tobacco and spice, tasting soft and luscious against sweetly gentle tannins. Classic and complex, this is a hugely attractive and thoroughly elegant expression.

11. Grant Burge, The Holy Trinity, South Australia, Barossa Valley, Australia 2012(14%), 56% Grenache, 33% Shiraz, 11% Mourvedre
Medal: Commended (DAWA 2015)
Decanter tasting notes: Smooth and concentrated with big tannins, big fruit and well-integrated oak.

12. Howard Park, Mad Fish Shiraz, Western Australia, Margaret River, Australia 2013(13.5%), 100% Shiraz
Medal: Bronze (DAWA 2015)
Decanter tasting notes: Lightly savoury and full of smoky game notes on the nose, mint and bitter chocolate coats the spicy palate. Fresh and linear with a gorgeous subtle smoke to finish.

Medal: Silver (DAWA 2015)
Decanter tasting notes: Sweet dark chocolate and spiced blackberry cake on the nose. Full yet finely textured palate with spicy oak tannins supporting fresh, ripe black fruits. Nicely structured juicy wine with a peppery finish.
