66. THE CAITLIN ALVARO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP The Caitlin Alvaro Memorial Scholarship was founded by family and friends to preserve the name of a beloved daughter, sister, peer and teammate. Each year the scholarship will be presented to female students that exhibit the integrity, athletic ability, intellect and service expected of a student-athlete, thus preserving Caitlin’s name and legacy for the good of the community. This scholarship is awarded to young women who have demonstrated a prowess in High School athletics and academics. Female student-athletes who receive the award are recognized for their ability to balance the demands of their education in tandem with the rigor of at least one varsity level sport. Applicant must: a. Participate on a varsity level (or equivalent) in one or more of the following sports: Basketball Soccer Crew Softball Cross Country Swimming/Diving Golf Tennis Gymnastics Track & Field Ice Hockey Volleyball Lacrosse b. Be of good academic and disciplinary standing c. Demonstrate service to the community d. Submit a brief essay of 300-500 words answering one of the following questions: 1. What does it mean to be a student-athlete? 2. How have athletics and academics prepared you for the future? 3. Describe an experience that has shaped you as a student- athlete. e. Transcript f. Letter of recommendation from a Coach g. Letter of recommendation from a Teacher h. A brief summary of any and all community service work done within your four years
