ASBESTOS SURVEYS Whilst asbestos was withdrawn for use as a building material in 1999, you’re still likely to find it in buildings that pre-date the ban – in anything from sprayed and textured decorative coatings, pipe insulation and insulating boards to window panels, floor tiles and roof sheeting. It’s down to you to check any installations onsite that may contain asbestos.

Whilst asbestos was withdrawn for use as a building material in 1999, you’re still likely to find it in buildings that pre-date the ban – in anything from sprayed and textured decorative coatings, pipe insulation and insulating boards to window panels, floor tiles and roof sheeting. It’s down to you to check any installations onsite that may contain asbestos.

That’s why we’ve teamed up with carefully selected partners to bring you specialist asbestos surveying that’ll help mitigate risks and keep your people safe from exposure.

Independent, UK Accreditation Service (UKAS) approved laboratories carry out all our asbestos survey analysis.

Standard sampling asbestos survey

The standard sampling asbestos survey is the most common type of survey. A sample is taken across the site - depending on its size and complexity – providing you with a clear picture of asbestos types and concentrations so you can build an accurate risk assessment. The standard asbestos sampling survey does not include breaking into voids or inaccessible areas and as such may miss any asbestos present there.

Asbestos demolition survey

Designed for refurbishment or demolition projects, a full access asbestos survey includes invasive investigations into reasonably accessible sealed voids and the fabric of the building. The survey includes breaking through partition walls and ceilings to confirm the presence or absence of asbestos. The survey is typically carried out prior to demolition or major refurbishment works where significant damage to the building isn’t an issue.

Asbestos monitoring

Once asbestos has been found, our partners can help you design an annual monitoring regime that involves the inspection of all known asbestos materials within the building. They monitor its location and condition and update the Building Asbestos Register, site management and location plans accordingly.

UKATA Approved Asbestos Training

Since the late 19th century, around 5.3 million tonnes of asbestos was imported into the UK until it was banned in 19911. From electricians and plumbers to engineers, shop fitters and all points in between, it’s a legal requirement that any of your people who may come across asbestos as part of their job has to have received asbestos awareness training that is refreshed regularly. We are one of only a few national risk management and insurance advisers2 accredited as an asbestos trainer by UK Asbestos Training Association (UKATA) and are fully compliant with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. UKATA-recognised certification from this half-day course lasts for one year and bi-annual refresher courses are available too in line with many trade body requirements such as the B&ES, NICEIC, Mansells etc.

Our specialist team of risk consultants can also create and deliver bespoke risk training packages across many risk management disciplines, from high level awareness training to in depth technical training on one particular aspect.
