Dear ASA Commissioner: The City of North Mankato is honored to host the 2013 ASA National Girls Slowpitch Tournament. Players and spectators will feel distinguished and welcome in North Mankato. We are the proud recipients of the ASA Award of Excellence for conducting one of the highest rated ASA National Championships in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011. Attached you will find a packet of information regarding the 2013 ASA National Girls Slowpitch Tournament to be held at Caswell Park in North Mankato, Minnesota July 24-28, 2013. A schedule of events for the tournament is included in the packet. If you have not sent in your completed entry blank, tournament entry fee and ASA official Tournament Roster, please do so as soon as possible. The deadline is no later than July 15, 2013. Games will be held at Caswell Park in North Mankato. Caswell Park was designed for major tournament play with six irrigated fields. In addition, there is a concession stand, restroom facilities and an elevated observation deck equipped with electrical outlets and picnic tables. Caswell also features four sand volleyball courts. - CALENDAR OF EVENTS - Monday, July 15 Official ASA tournament entry form and fee

due Wednesday, July 24 Umpires Meeting 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Coaches Meeting ** (Tentative) **(May be moved to Thursday morning,

depending on number of teams registered and when tournament play starts)

Wednesday, July 24 6-9 p.m. Team Check-In – Best Western and Thursday, July 25 Team Check-In – Caswell Park (2 hours before 9 a.m. (Tentative) your first pool game) All players must be present at check-in.

Managers must provide birth certificates and photo ID’s for each player listed or ASA cards for each player on the roster. Each team must have one coach be ACE Certified.

Thursday, July 25 Mandatory team pictures will be taken at 10 a.m. – 12 noon Caswell Park prior to opening ceremonies. Team pictures will be taken in warm-up area between Fields 3 and 4. Thursday, July 25 Opening ceremonies – depending on number 12 Noon (Tentative) of teams and schedule. Each team will be required to be in full uniform 15 minutes before

ceremony start time.

Thursday, July 25 Games Begin 1 p.m. (Tentative) Pre tournament draw conducted on Friday,

July 19. Draw information will be available on tournament web site by 5 p.m. on Friday, July 19. Pool play begins on Thursday, July 25 at 1 p.m. (During pool play the tournament committee is asking each team to provide a volunteer to operate the scoreboard during their team’s two games.)

Entry Fee: $400 per team. Deadline for entry is July 15. Make

checks payable to City of North Mankato. All ASA official entry forms and fees should be mailed to: City of North Mankato

four-game guarantee. Official Game Ball: The official game ball at this time will be Baden.

This is subject to change until ball contract is signed.

Warm-Up Areas Prior to games teams are required to warm-up in the

outfield areas. There are batting cages on-site by the east parking lot of Caswell Park.

Alcoholic Beverages: During the tournament, all alcoholic beverages are

prohibited in the Caswell Park Complex and any practice fields as well as the respective parking lots.

Parking: Free parking is available on the west side of the complex nearest to fields 1 and 4. Additional parking is available in front of the main gate closest to fields 1 and 2 and on the east side of the complex nearest fields 5 and 6.

Coach and Player Passes: Each team will be given up to four (4) coach passes

and one (1) pass for each player attending the tournament who is listed on the roster. Passes must be shown each time entering the facility, even when in uniform. Lost passes will be replaced at the tournament price.

Admission: Daily admission: Adult Tournament Pass: $25;

Student Tournament Pass: $15; Adult Daily Admission: $8, Student Daily Admission: Ages 6-18 $5; Children 5 & Under: FREE.

Pets: No pets are allowed inside the Caswell Complex

gates. Concessions: A variety of concessions will be available. No

outside food or drink is allowed in the park. Fans are not permitted to bring outside food or beverages inside the admission gates. Any team cooler brought inside the admission gates will be inspected. The team coolers must remain in the dugout for players and coaches only.

Souvenirs: A variety of ASA merchandise will be available. Gift Exchange: Teams will exchange gifts prior to each of their pool

play games. Gift should be symbolic of the team’s home town and have a value of $10 or less.

Awards: Team plaques and individual awards will be

awarded to National Champion, runner-up and third place teams.

Photography: SportPix of Mankato will be the official tournament

Game Time: Times listed are only a guideline. Teams should be

ready to play after the conclusion of the preceding game.

Line-ups: Tournament officials will provide line-up cards for

each team. An official line-up card must be submitted to the tournament headquarters at least 45 minutes prior to start time.

Coin-flip: A coin will be flipped 60 minutes prior to the start time to determine home and visitor teams at the tournament headquarters.

Dugouts: The team listed on the top of the bracket will use the

dugout along the third base line. Infield Practice: No infield practice will be allowed. Teams may

warm up in designated areas while the infield is being prepared.

Run Rule: By ASA rule - 20 after three innings, 15 after four

innings and 10 after five innings. Time Limit Rule: Pool Play only – No inning shall start after 1 hour

and 20 minutes. Bracket Play only – No inning shall start after 1

hour and 40 minutes. Inclement Weather: If, for any reason, weather suspends games, the

tournament directors will reschedule games and adjust the schedule accordingly to keep the tournament on schedule. A tournament information phone line will be available to coaches at check-in time. It will be your responsibility to call this information line during the tournament when the weather is inclement to find out up-to-the-minute information on games.

Protests: The tournament UIC, Assistant UIC, ASA Rep and

Tournament Director will rule on all protests. As manager, please be familiar with the rules of the game including proper protest procedures.

Uniforms: All players and coaches must comply with ASA

uniform code Rule 3, Section 6. Official Balls: Two new balls will be provided and used during

each game.
