The show features 19 photographic meditations selected from five different ongoing series: Standing Open, Paperbacks, Sea Change, Blue Books, and Push 2 Stops. This solo exhibition is the result of Bartley receiving Top Honors in the 2012 Artists Members Exhibition from Lilly Wei, independent curator, essayist and critic for Art in America, who was the juror for Guild Hall’s 74th Artist Members Exhibition that included entries from more than 450 artists. to see this at the HIFF last week the joke is on you -- it’s playing everywhere in the country this week for half the price. Michael Keaton is getting heavy buzz for his performance as a washed up actor who once played a superhero. Director Alejandro González Iñárritu is a master of pacing, and Edward Norton turns in a spectacular supporting performance. This film is a serious contender for the Best Picture statue and both men should be on the short list come Oscar time.

The Judge (R ) Warner Brothers goes for a home run by signing Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall to head up an all star cast in this drama about a big city lawyer who returns home to defend his father. David Dobkin was an odd choice to direct: with the exception of Wedding Crashers, he has a decidedly mixed record at the box office. It’s pretty standard fare, but the big boys deliver A-List performances and the supporting cast, led by Billy Bob Thornton, Vera Farmiga, and Vincent D’Onofrio hold their own.

Ingredients (serves 4)10 oz. bag frozen corn

1/4 c heavy cream1 shallot

1/2 c all purpose flour1 tbsp Old Bay seasoning

pinch of salt1 tbsp cracked black pepper1/2 a gallon of canola oil

1 head of cabbage sliced very thin1 large carrot sliced into thin strips

1 red onion sliced very thinjuice of one lime

2 tbsp white sugar

Crispy Corn Fritters With Spicy Coleslaw

2 tbsp cider vinegar2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

1/3 c mayonnaise2 tsp of your favorite hot sauce1 handful of cilantro chopped

MethodBegin by sautéing the chopped

shallot in a medium sized saucepot. Add the corn when the shallot has become translucent.

Add the heavy cream and seasoning and simmer on medium heat for about 30 minutes. Blend the

mixture and fold in the flour.For the next step, if you have a

small deep fryer at home I suggest you use it. However, if you do not, you can carefully heat a small pot of canola oil over medium heat to fry the corn fritters.

Simply spoon the corn mixture into

the hot oil and cook for two minutes each or until golden brown.

For the coleslaw mix all the thinly sliced vegetables, cilantro, olive oil, mayonnaise, limejuice, vinegar and hot sauce together in a bowl. Serve alongside the crispy corn fritters. Enjoy!
