Ann-Clore and Walt Duncan and Camilla and David Ostrowe have accepted the challenge of serving as Allied Arts 2017 Campaign Co-Chairs. Over the last few months, they have been busy meeting with staff, building a volunteer leadership cabinet and strategizing new ways to build broader community support for the arts. Both the Duncans and the Ostrowes have been steadfast supporters of Allied Arts and the cultural community at large, with David having served on the Allied Arts board as allocations finance chair, strategic plan chair and executive committee member.

Lending their expertise and vision to the campaign are Jeanette and Rand Elliott, who will serve as Allied Arts 2017 Honorary Chairs. Artists themselves, the Elliotts have contributed their time, creativity and resources to a myriad of cultural organizations including the Oklahoma City Ballet, Oklahoma Contemporary, Individual Artists of Oklahoma, Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition and many more. In recognition of their impact on Oklahoma’s cultural landscape, both Jeanette and Rand have been honored as Governor’s Arts Award recipients.

Led by Karen Delaney and Michael Laird, the 2016 fundraising campaign raised a total of $2,986,334 for central Oklahoma’s cultural community. Special thanks to the Allied Arts Executive Committee and Kirkpatrick Family Fund for providing a matching pool which helped generate critical donations in the last month of the campaign.

Representing people from all walks of life and businesses of all industries, the campaign benefitted from the support of 6,243 donors, a 25% increase over 2015 and the largest increase in Allied Arts’ 45 year history. This included contributions from a staggering 1,549 donors making their first time gift to Allied Arts. Thank you to all of the 2016 campaign donors for supporting quality arts programming, outreach and education in our community!

As in years past, employee giving was an integral part of the campaign’s success. In 2016, 107 businesses hosted employee giving campaigns, a 22% participation increase from last year, and collectively raised more than $526,000. The top-producing employee giving partners were employees of the City of Oklahoma City, Devon Energy, American Fidelity Assurance, Chesapeake Energy, OGE Energy Corp., Ackerman McQueen, SONIC, America’s Drive-In, Integris, Continental Resources and Bank of Oklahoma.

Thank you to all of the companies who hosted Allied Arts employee giving campaigns in 2016. It’s not too early to sign up for 2017! To be recognized as a Headliner in the 2017 campaign, please contact [email protected] by January 12, 2017.

Announcing 2017 Campaign Leadership

(continued from page 1) Bus tour stops ranged from the Opry Heritage Foundation, where low-income students receive high-quality music education for just 50 cents per lesson, to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, home of this summer’s blockbuster Matisse exhibit and, just as importantly, facilitator of healing arts programs for the elderly and hospitalized. Everyone who participated in the bus tour gained a new appreciation of the broad and lasting impact the arts have on our community.

In the 2017 fiscal year, Allied Arts will distribute more than $2.3 million to leading cultural nonprofits in central Oklahoma through three grant programs. Allied Arts member agencies receive the majority of grant funds through the allocations grant program. To be awarded quarterly throughout FY 2017, allocations grants provide an unrestricted investment in the general operations, administration and programs of Allied Arts member agencies. Member agencies report that Allied Arts allocations grants touch every aspect of their organizations including: operations, community outreach and programming.

Allied Arts awarded more than $81,000 in support of youth arts programming and outreach in the first cycle of education and capacity building grants for 2017. These grants also supported efforts to make cultural nonprofits stronger and more sustainable.

Educational outreach projects include:• Free fall break camps and afterschool programs for children

who otherwise would not have arts opportunities • State-wide in-school dance instruction at low-income schools • Use of live theatre to teach history and Shakespeare

Capacity building projects include:• Development of organizational strategic plans • Technology updates • Professional development opportunities

Allied Arts volunteers oversee grantmaking in all three programs by reviewing application materials, ensuring grantees are in strong financial standing and making funding recommendations approved by the Allied Arts board of directors.

The deadline for the next cycle of educational outreach and capacity building grant requests is January 13, 2017. For more information, please contact [email protected].
