  • The Technology of Immersion - Overview

  • What We Do

  • Cisco IX 5000 Series - $299,000

    Polycom OTX - $299,000

    Polycom Immersive Studio - $425,000

Video Conferencing (Using a Pan-Tilt-Zoom Camera) Room investments range from $3-12k for end-point VC and typically $20-$50k for a complete room. Pros: Standards-based, wide-adoption, Over 2M units deployed and close to 250K physical new end-points sold

each year, plus countless software endpoints are coming on-line each year with standards-based interoperability, can be integrated with next-generation, best-of-breed collaborative tools and installed audio, reliable, etc.

Cons: Relatively low system utilization rate especially when compared to immersive telepresence systems Cons: Poor human factors creating barriers for effective use (i.e. eye contact, poor remote viewing, tunnel effect) Quality Level on Scale from 1-10 = 3 4 if you use industry best practices in deployment

HUGE Cost and Experience CHASM between VC and Telepresence

Currently No Other Attractive Options that can BOTH Improve the Experience and Lower the Cost

Immersive Telepresence Room investments range from $250k to a more typical range of $350-500k+ including frequent room remediation. Purpose built, dedicated rooms with minimal capability to use the room for traditional meetings Pros: High-quality, immersive experience, brain able to focus on The Message vs. The Medium Cons: Poor experience when participants interact locally with everyone seated in a single row, cut heads off when

you stand to present, or move outside of strictly defined seating. Cons: Visible cameras are psychologically uninviting, unnatural local participant interactions (I.E. 90 degree head

turns), and decors that age quickly and are tied to the systems Quality Level on Scale from 1-10: 7-10 Depending on specific system & deployment best practices

Arrays Equal-I technology can take a 3 or 4 level VTC system up to a quality level of 9 for $13,995

    Visual Collaboration Options

    Video Conferencing $3-20K

  • Turn Any VTC Room Into an Immersive EnvironmentArrays revolutionary dual camera and Image Processor replace the Pan-Tilt-Zoom VTC camera and is concealed at perfect vertical eye-line between dual displays. The system powers dual displays using a single codec and bitstream with no impact on networks.

Pan-Tilt-Zoom @ Same Perspective Without Array

Brings the farthest participants Up Close and Personal, increasing the picture quality (facial pixel count improved by 6.5X)

Powers dual displays using a single videoconferencing codec to create a wide-format scene that brings in more peripheral vision to improve the immersion in the experience

Concealed camera at vertical eye-line making the experience more comfortable and natural

Stand Up Capture, and less bandwidth at 1/20th the cost of Cisco & Polycom telepresence systems

Room format allows for local meeting reuse while increasing videoconferencing utilization rate

Unsurpassed ROI in Visual Communication both in experience and investment

  • The Big Idea: Arrays Equal-i technology is the biggest improvement to the quality-of-experience and end-user acceptance of group videoconferencing since high definition video and lifesize immersive telepresence environments each revolutionized the industry in similar ways.

Arrays Equal-i technology allows organizations to: Dramatically improve the quality-of-experience of their existing Pan-Tilt-Zoom camera videoconferencing

systems without any changes to codecs, control systems, video network infrastructure, or network bandwidth. Cost-effectively upgrade dozens or hundreds of rooms at relatively low-cost compared with existing multi-

screen, multi-codec offerings, highly immersive environments, or other competitive technologies that improve quality-of-experience.

Deploy single & dual-screen immersive telepresence systems at a fraction of the cost and square-footage required from competitive systems with better eye-line, local meeting format, concealed camera, and stand up capture using a single codec and bit stream to power wide-format immersive dual displays .

    The Big Idea Customer Benefits

  • The revolutionary Equal-i Image Processor (IP) sits between either a hardware video-conferencing codec or a PC/Mac runningvideoconferencing software and the Array DX Dual Camera Module which replaces the Pan-Tilt-Zoom camera and is mountedat perfect vertical eye-line between dual displays separated by only 4mms. The miniature low-profile camera sits on and isconcealed by the display bezels. The IP applies custom image improvement algorithms to the scene before sending the imageto the videoconferencing codec for transmission across the Internet.

In the case of the DX Dual Camera Module (Shown)and the upcoming SX Split Camera Module for singledisplays, each of the 2 cameras is capturing one sideof the table creating two video streams, the IP takesboth video streams and combines them into a singlestream which it hands to the codec. On the otherside of the connection the Array IP is also sittingbetween the codec and the displays so the IP breaksout the scene and spreads it across dual displays.

The IP can also improve an incoming call from a VCsystem using a Pan/Tilt/Zoom camera without Equal-i and spread the scene over dual-displays as well.

    How Does It Work?

Array DX Dual Camera Module replaces the Pan-Tilt-Zoom camera and is mounted at perfect vertical eye-line between dual displays separated by only 4mms. The Image Processor applies custom image improvement algorithms to the scene before sending the image to the videoconferencing codec for transmission across the Internet.

  • Revolutionary Capabilities Image Improvement and The Stack

Farthest participants brought Up Close and Personal with pixel count on farthest face increased by 6.5 times over PTZ

Concealed camera at perfect vertical eye-line

    Improved Local Participation and Format

    Stand Up Capture

Improved Meeting Format to Across the Table

Conventional oval/oblong tables for local meetings vs. Cisco & Polycoms single row of participants

    Image Improvement

Because of the uniformity of the Array approach we can crop the top 25% and the bottom 25% of the scene after image improvement to display more discernable people on screen. Ability to send improved scene to non-Equal-i VC end-points

OR a one-screen letterbox version of the whole scene Improved capabilities for video walls (next slide) Improved capabilities for multi-point (coming soon)

8 Person Table Cropped & Stacked to produce 8 essentially life-size head and torsos across a 65 inch display

    The Stack

  • Revolutionary Capabilities Video Wall Improved Video Wall Capabilities (mock ups of what can be expected)

Above: Ability to display cropped filmstrip view to leave overwhelming majority of video wall available for data

Above: remote scene stitched together to create life-size seamless view

  • System Control

    Control Systems OR

Array integrates with existing control systems to automate the process for preset locations

    Crestron available now

    AMX coming soon

One Extra Step: Tell system what scene to send at setup: Equal-i Immersive OR The Stack/Data OR Letterbox/Data

But Extra Features: Switch back-and-forth between immersive telepresence and data in a call.

Best Practice: Add a panel or dedicated tablet to your room on a charging pad for call control and then lock it down and set it to brick if it walks away. Arrays UI is easy!

  • FAQ: Where Does the Data Go? (If I use both displays for immersive telepresence?)

Depends on your preference.. Several Options:

Above, below, or to the side of the dual displays We recommend keeping both dual displays engaged in immersive telepresence for the entire meeting so we recommend adding additional displays for data.

People+Content Use the Array tablet interface to switch between immersive telepresence on both screens to people on one screen (Letterbox or The Stack) and Content/Data on the 2nd Display

Data-in-the-Table Use our reference designs for free OR Coming Soon: Optimized for Array tables from leading technology furniture suppliers.

Above: Quad multi-touch display configuration for data and 3rd site life-size multi-point above the primary telepresence displays.

    Data-in-the-Table One Option

    People+Content: The Stack

    People+Content: Letterbox

People+Content: Using the Array UI delivered to a customer-supplied tablet or control panel, the IP serves as a video switcher capable of optimizing data on the displays.

  • FAQ: What if the Other Side Doesnt Have Equal-i?

A: They Still Get a Better Experience!

Two options to send to non-Equal-i sites:

The Stack two rows of 4-7 lifesize head & torsos where the participants have been brought Up Close & Personal with visible facial features

Letterbox Entire scene reduced in size for a single display.

The Stack - Two rows of 4-7 participants depending on table size of Equal-I site

Letterbox The whole scene reduced to fit on a single screen.
