Middle East Webquest INTRODUCTION:
To learn more about the Middle East, I have devised a Web Quest for this region. A group of three students will work together to explore the three major religions of the Middle East. The goal of this project is to familiarize the student with the three major religions of the Middle East, and to gain insight into the problems religious differences can cause. By the completion of this Web Quest, the student will have acquired an understanding of the three major Religions of the Middle East, and the importance of Religious tolerance in order to coexist peacefully in this area. Teaching FactsTeachers are considered the most important element of the educational process. They provide incentives and set annual quantitative and qualitative developmental plans. Teachers are distributed according to years of experience and supervising authority. Teachers are selected for the job through competitive measures and on the basis of capability, experience, and educational qualifications. Special consideration of employment is given to sons and daughters of the Jordanian Armed Forces, Poor families, and the handicapped who hold academic qualifications. Teacher promotion takes place after 5 years in a new grade, class, or category, but may be promoted based on higher academic degree or distinctive performance. Training of Pre-Primary and Basic school teachers must hold a Bachelor’s degreeSecondary teachers must hold a Bachelor’s and one year postgraduateTraining of Higher Education Teachers must hold a Doctorate, some times only a Master’s Degree.
Compare and Contrast Teachers in both countries are to develop an
improvement plan after initial certification. Both programs stress technology in classroom Women/Men are only assigned to teach same gender
in Jordan. This is not the case in the United States Both programs pay in accordance with continued
education. Both programs have a higher Office that set
standards to be taught. Government in Jordan decided what textbooks are to
be used. Here teachers are allowed to choose books and format.
Compare and Contrast Cont. Teachers in Jordan are given incentives to improve
their status. Examples include, special allowances, housing funds, teacher’s clubs, better office furniture, medals, celebrations on Teacher Day and 5% of university seats for teacher’s sons and daughters. I do not know of any incentives that teachers here are offered, we make less than factory workers, are given a free lunch ticket for Christmas, and pay $5.00 a month or .25 for each cup of coffee. However, our ice is free, and occasionally the cooks will put extra cookies in the teachers lounge for us.
