INTERNATIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL

2020

The first international platform in South Africa for the art forms dance, drama

and music.

The Arnold sports Festival USA will be held in Columbus, Ohio and followed by

events in Melbourne, Australia, Brazil, Hong Kong, Barcelona, Spain and South

Africa.

The Arnold Classic Sport Festival in South Africa created a competition for the

different art forms (Dance, Drama, and Music) in 2020.

MINI PROGRAM

1. Program will commence on 15 May: Registration of all participants

Adjudication of the Pre-Arnold Classic International qualifying rounds –

Drama only. Workshops held throughout 15th of May due to interest.

2. On 16 – 17th of May the program will focus on the Arnold Classic International

Festival where the finalists will compete:

Finalists will consist of:

Music: 1st and 2nd place of each instrument of each age group

Dance: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place of novice, amateur and champs, per style per

section

Drama: 1st and 2nd place of each category of each age group

15 – 17th of May also offers an open stage where any participant can

show off their talent.

Announcement of the winners in each art form and handing over of

prizes at the end of the program.

CLOSING DATE 15 April 2020

FINAL PROGRAM WITH DEFNITE TIMES WILL BE RELEASED CLOSER TO THE TIME.

2. HOW TO ENTER

All entries must be completed on our online entry system. Please register your studio at

arnd.artisticulta.co.za and create your own login details by entering your email address and

password. From there you can complete your entries. No late entries will be accepted.

Entry fees are to be paid into the following account:

A-Arts Festival Dance FNB (South Africa), Account No 62667529435 Branch code 251145 Ref: Studio name / Dancer name

Send proof of payment to [email protected] / +27 74 240 2027. Please use studio &

country name for reference.

3. ENTRY FEES

R850

Registration fee per participant and teacher (package: this fee includes Registration

fee, Arnold sportswear and access to all sporting codes participating in the Arnold

Classic Festival).

R200 Registration fee per participant and teacher if not interested in above package

R300 Solos, Duos & Trios per style per person

R250 Quartets / Groups (4-15 dancers), Formations (15+) and Productions per style per

person

R150 Adult (spectator) and Children(12 years +) – General access ticket

R20 Children (12 years and under)

Free Children younger than 6 years have free entry

Please note that spectator’s fees are subject to change January 2020! Spectators’ fees can

be bought online at Web tickets.

No entry or affiliation fees are refundable

JUDGES

Accredited judge/s to be announced closer to the time.

5. SCORING SYSTEM

A++ Certificate 95% - 100%

A+ certificate 88% - 94%

A Certificate 80% - 87%

B+ certificate 75% - 79%

B certificate 70% - 74%

C+ certificate 69% and under

The best overall winner of each style and category will receive an Arnold Classic Africa

medal for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Our grand prize includes Arnold Classic medals, trophies and cash prizes.

Please note it is imperative that teachers check spelling of dancers’ names and surnames

when entering on the system. The system generates the certificates. A certificate list will

not be send to teachers. A fee will be charged for faulty certificates.

6. APPEARANCE, ADJUDICATION, RESULTS AND QUERIES

Costumes, music and appearance have to be acceptable. No parent/teacher is allowed to

have contact with adjudicators while adjudicating. The student will be penalized. No

jewellery or nail polish on stage.

7. WITHDRAWALS

Withdrawals must be done either at the beginning of the day, or during the tea, lunch, or

supper break. No withdrawals during the dance session. No fees are refundable.

8. VIDEO CAMERAS AND CAMERAS

No video cameras or flashing lights are allowed in the hall. A DVD will be made of the whole

Arts Festival. A professional photographer will be on duty to take photos. If

teachers/dancers would not like their item(s) to be recorded they can email us before hand

so that those items will not be recorded.

9. MUSIC AND MOVEMENTS

Items with music that contain harsh or strong language will not be tolerated and

performances must be free of vulgar and provocative movements.

Music must be send via drop box where we will collect it and place it in our system. Teachers

must still bring a memory stick with all their music on as a backup for if a problem occurs.

Drop box instructions will be sent via email closer to the time.

Please make sure the dancer is entered under the correct age groups. Our system will be

asking for an ID number and will warn the teacher/dancer that the age do not match the ID

number. When entering duos, trios, groups, formations and productions make sure they all

fall under the age groups as set above. If the age gab is to big please enter under “any

age” for the system will not except mixed ages.

11. STATUS (For solos, duets, trio’s, quartets/groups & formations)

All teachers should use their own discretion as to where they should enter a dancer.

Please note that we don't have a quartet section only duets and trios. A quartet will be seen

as a group.

Novice 2 - 3 year dance training

12. DANCE STYLES

Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip-hop, Modern, African, Disco, Tap, Lyrical, Acrobatics, Break

dance, Freestyle, Heritage/Cultural dancing and Open section (combination of the above

mentioned dance styles or any dance style that has not been mentioned) are presented.

Dancers / Teachers please stick to the style at hand when choreographing your items!

13. SING AND DANCE

A new category has been created. Now vocalists can enter items with dancers as the

background. These entries can be straight or have a theme/character to them. All sing and

dance items will fall under the section type: Sing and dance. Participants/teachers must use

their own discretion when it comes to choosing a status.

15. GENERAL RULES

Be ready to perform one hour prior to given / allocated time. If not performing, no

candidates and spectators are allowed backstage. Should a competitor not be able to

complete his/her dance, a two-minute recovery time will be given. With character dances

no fire, knives, alcohol or smoking will be allowed. The Artisticulta organising team will not be

held responsible for any property losses or injuries during the festival period.
