Adding a Shortcut to the Desktop
1. Click the Start button, point to the program of choice, and then press and release the right mouse button
2. Point to ‘Send To’ on the shortcut menu
3. Click ‘Desktop (create shortcut)’
4. Click an open area on the desktop to close the start menu

Let’s create our folders!
• Open My Documents• File, New, Folder• Block #, Last name, Enter key• Rename Block #, First name, Last initial, Enter key• Open your folder• Create 5 folders within your folder (Word, Excel,
Access, Power Point, Internet)• Click ‘Folders’ on toolbar to view the hierarchy…
collapse and expand your folder• Delete the Internet folder• Move the Word folder into your Excel folder• Move it back where it was

Type Text in the Word Document
Save As ‘Practice’ in your Word folder.
Delete the file from your Word folder
Rename the file.
Create a shortcut on the desktop to your folder…delete it if you wish.

Whoa! Back up!!
Backup = creating a copy of files on a storage device
Source drive/folder: drive and folder containing the files to be copied
Destination drive/folder: drive and folder to which the files are copied

Right-Drag
Right drag means you point to an item, hold down the right mouse button, move the item to the desired location, and then release the right mouse button.
When you right drag an object, a shortcut menu is displayed which contains commands specifically for use with the object being dragged.
