Who Should Take Honors

Courses?

There are 24 hours in a day. Evaluate how much time will be spent in other activities such as athletics, fine arts, church, and outside of school activities (Don’t forget family time!)

We expect much more of secondary students. Successful Honors students will need to spend more time on homework, research, and outside class participation.

Math Placement

7th grade Level math

Pre-Algebra for 6th grade Advanced math

Pre-Algebra for 6th grade Level math – skipping 1 year of math

Benchmarks, Common Assessments, final average, STAAR

Algebra 1: Summer Acceleration Course or Credit by Exam

Plan now to prepare for High School!

Classes offered in 8th grade for HS credit

Health

Communication applications

Spanish

Higher level math such as

Algebra and Geometry

CTE – Principles of Tech

Principles of Engineering

Some Important Things to Remember…

ALL DIRECTIONS ARE ON YOUR YELLOW SHEET!!!

Be sure to rank elective choices in order of preference from

1 (most preferred) to 8 (least preferred) AND enter 3 alternates in Student access.

**Please choose your electives carefully, selections determine the school schedule and changes can only be made if a placement mistake has been made!!**

Students interested in Athletics or Cross Country must have a physical turned in by May 28.

Parent signature should be on the Course Request Sheet.

IMPORTANT DATES FORCOURSE SELECTION

February 25th INFORMATION NIGHT and ELECTIVE NIGHT

@ PEET AND WASHINGTON (STOCKTON students)6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

ALL STUDENTS WILL TURN IN YELLOW COURSE SELECTION SHEETS and ALL STUDENTS will enter their requests in student access by March 5.

Counselors will assist students at the Intermediate campus the week of March 2nd

in the event they have no computer access at home.

COURSE REQUEST VERIFICATION SHEETS WILL BE SENT

HOME IN YOUR TUESDAY IN MARCH

APRIL 9th NO SCHEDULE CHANGE REQUESTS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE.

SHOTS

ALL students must have the following

shots in order to attend 7th grade: Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis)

2 Varicella (Chicken Pox)

MCV4 Menactra (Meningitis)

2 Hep A vaccines

SHOT records MUST be received by the Junior High

prior to the first day of school….8/12/20!!!!Schedules will NOT be released early to students until Shot records are updated!!
