JUST A FEW UPDATES AND REMINDERS ABOUT BOX TOPS, MILK MOOLA AND

COKE CAPS from our Box Top Coordinator, Rhonda Pavelski ….

It is finally warming up, things are thawing and the weather is becoming more stable, which

means, I will start working on the Gaga Pit party for the 4th graders!! We will let you know the

date of that party as soon as it is arranged with the 4th grade teachers.

In February, Tops for Pops raised $43.50, which was not bad considering the late start to the month due

to school closings and such. We will continue to accept dimes in place of box tops, if you don’t normally

purchase box-topped items. To date, we have earned $950.50 from the Box Tops programs! Thanks for your

help ….. Please KEEP CLIPPING!

As a reminder, Kwik Trip has officially ended its Milk Moola program! The FINAL DAY

TO TURN THEM IN IS WEDNESDAY, MARCH 27th. I will need to count them and send them out

by Friday. Thank you to everyone who has helped collect these over the years. We will continue

with Box Tops and Coke Caps until we find a replacement for Milk Moola.

Coke caps are coming in and Tammy Kubisiak and I are busy entering them. Thank you,

Tammy for helping with this project! If you are interested in helping to enter these codes,

please let me know! Remember, you can also enter them yourself and donate them to McDill

School right on the Coke app.

In addition, if you find yourself with caps after their deadline, feel free to bring them in and put them in collect-

ing bins. I will make sure to get them to our Green and Healthy Group for a bench for the school. We have

been recycling Coke caps and other caps that come in for this purpose.

Thank you for all your help making the school great. The money earned from these programs is used by the

school/PTO to supply our playground with items, such as balls, chalk, and other inside and outside games.

Please remember if you have any questions or concerns about any of these topics, I am available to answer

any of your questions.

Just another reminder ……….

You could be helping McDill School when you shop!

AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon that lets

customers enjoy the same wide selection of products, low

prices, and convenient shopping features as on Amazon.com.

The difference is that when customers shop at AmazonSmile

(smile. Amazon.com), the AmazonSmile Foundation donates

0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to the charitable

organizations selected by customers.

PLEASE CONSIDER CHOOSING McDILL

Elementary School PTO Inc as your organization to receive this .5% donation!!

WANTED: Used Markers!! McDill participates in the Crayola ColorCycle program by collecting dried out markers of any type: highlighter, dry erase, sharpie, Crayola, etc. Our goal is to collect 1000 markers by the

end of this schools year. You can help us by dropping off used markers from home or sending them to school with your child. There is a collection bin on top of the Lost and Found in the school entryway. The markers are sent back to Crayola rather than ending up in a landfill.

Attendance Counts!

This semester McDill Elementary is making a special effort to ensure that all

students fully benefit from their education by attending school regularly. Attending

school regularly helps children feel better about school—and themselves. Your

student can start building this habit in elementary school so they learn right away

that going to school on time, every day, is important.

DID YOU KNOW?

By 6th grade, absenteeism is one of three signs that a student may drop out of high school.

Starting in kindergarten, too many absences (excused and unexcused) can cause children to fall behind in school.

Missing 10 percent (or about 18 days) increases the chance that your student will not read or master math at the same level as their peers.

Students can still fall behind if they miss just a day every few weeks.

Being late to school may lead to poor daily attendance.

Additionally, by being present at school, your child learns valuable social skills and opportunities to develop meaningful relationships with others.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

Set a regular bedtime and morning routine.

Be prepared - Finish homework, pack school bags, decide on lunch, plan clothes, locate outerwear, and get a full night’s sleep to avoid morning delays.

Students should attend school unless they have had a fever in the last 24 hours, are nauseated, are contagious, or have a doctor’s order to stay home. Complaints of a stomach ache or headache can be signs of anxiety. Contact the Program Support Specialist for support if anxieties may be a factor.

Schedule appointments and extended trips when school is not in session.

Develop back-up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, a neighbor, or another parent.

Keep track of your student’s attendance. Attendance can be seen at anytime on the Skyward Family Access page.

Talk to your student about the importance of attendance.

If you have any questions or would like additional support, please contact Melissa Oliver, Program Support Specialist, at McDill Elementary. She can be reached at 715-345-5545 or [email protected]
