Using the disciplines of weight training, Pilates & Yoga,

Class I and Class II will promote: muscle tone, strength,

endurance and power….improve bone density….increase

& promoting vitality.

Pilates, Class III will promote muscle strength, endurance,

joints to give you improved flexibility, range of motion, better

management…relieve stress and tension while promoting

The 5-hour Pre-licensing Course is a pre-requisite for obtaining

a New York State Driver’s License. Those wishing to enroll in

the course may do so with the secretary in the Counseling

Center at the high school, Monday – Friday. You may also

register by mailing the form on the back of this brochure with

your payment. Please allow time for mailed payments to

reach us to guarantee your seat in class. You must bring to

class your valid NYS Learner’s Permit.

All participants must be enrolled by the

Friday morning before the class begins. For

walk-ins and Monday registrants, a late fee

of $5.00 will be added and seats are not

guaranteed if the class is filled.

Understand what settings to use for different situations. Students

This is a basic class that will allow students to work with / edit

picture from multiple media formats (camera, phone, email,

internet). Picture storage, editing, formatting, and printing will

be covered. We will explore Windows XP, Windows Vista, and

Windows 7 formats. Students will get a chance to use Microsoft

Office Picture Manager (free software that comes with

Microsoft office). Students are welcome to bring their own

laptop, digital cameras, cell phones, external hard drives, and/

or flash drives. Please bring all cables for these devices.

Arthritis has the distinction of being the foremost crippling

disease in the U.S. The cost to the American economy is more

than 14 billion dollars per year and affects one in every seven

people. Doctors of Chiropractic help patients with arthritis

everyday. Preventative care, exercise, and nutritional

considerations will be discussed as a primary form of treatment

against this much too common condition.

Transform your backyard setting into a beautiful and peaceful

water garden. Building a backyard garden pond can be great

fun. Class one will cover selecting a location, what materials are

needed and cost, construction steps including waterfall building

ideas. Class two will cover maintenance, growing aquatic plants,

algae control, pond fish and more. Time will be allowed for

questions after each class.

Class being taught by Ed Duncan, Jr. of Eddie’s Aquarium

and the Water Garden Co. Ed has successfully designed

and built over 300 water features since 1985.

Prior studentsbring usual supplies; new students should bring a water containerand paper towels. *New students will need to make the one

time purchase of a brush kit at the cost of $20.00 from the

consist of learning how to create two cast on methods, bind off,

learn knit and purl stitches, garter stitch, ribbing. You will

learn how to make a swatch, check your gauge, and how to read

a knitting pattern. *Materials you will need to purchase for

the first class are: 1-4 oz. skein and 1-3 oz.(different colors)

of light colored acrylic or wool worsted wt. 4 ply yarn-no

variegated yarn, a crochet hook (size F), notebook, small scissors,

tape measure, and pen/pencil.

*A material fee of approximately $15.00 (to be paid directly

to the instructor) will be collected on the first night of

class to cover the cost of the appropriate size and type of

knitting needles and row counter which the instructor will

have purchased for you. Students may contact the instructor

It’s time to get that old chair seat repaired! Enroll in this class

and learn to do the job yourself. Both pressed and woven cane

techniques can be taught in this class. Bring your project to the

first class-we will remove the old caning properly (if necessary).

First night of class will be used to determine a plan and materials

needed for each individual’s piece to be worked on. Second night

of class will be on April 17 and a schedule will be worked out for

each project (and style of caning) and number of evenings needed

to complete the project.

*Material fee is not included in the tuition. Materials will

be ordered and available by the second class. Individual

material fees will be due to the instructor at the second

This course will allow New York State motorists to receive a10% discount on motor vehicle liability and collision insurance

premiums for a three year period. Drivers who have incurredviolation points on their driving record will be eligible to receive

a 4 point reduction. The course is certified with the Departmentof Motor Vehicles and the National Safety Council. The program

consists of six hours of classroom instruction including videos,lecture and discussion. Students will be taught accident

prevention techniques along with useful refresher information.Course materials include a student workbook and a New York

State Driver’s Manual. Payment should be received 3 days

prior to the class. Walk-ins and late registrations will be

charged an additional $5.00 fee and seats are not

guaranteed if the class is filled.

Material to be presented should give thestudents direction and familiarize them with the format andexpectations of the test. Handouts will be given, and studentswill be expected to put in the effort and come to each class withany questions they may have. **Students are encouraged to

buy the Barron’s S.A.T. Review Book but it is not

mandatory for the class. Class starts promptly at 6:30 as

some timed sections will be administered.

CPR for Family and Friends is an

American Heart Association course

designed to teach lay rescuers the

basics of CPR. This program uses

both practice-while-watching format

to teach skills in CPR, AED use and

the relief of choking victims. The

course is intended for college-dorm

resident assistants, athletes,

community groups, workplace wellness programs or people

who simply want to learn CPR and who do not require

certification. This course covers adult, child, and infant CPR,

the use of an AED and adult, child and infant choking relief.

will teach you the basic fundamentals of Karate that will help

improve your balance, form, and reaction time. Learn basic

blocking, kicking, and striking techniques that will increase your

speed and power. Discover ways to combine various Karate

moves and implement them into 3-5 point self defense

techniques. Know what to expect from a Karate school and

what commitment and loyalty they will expect from you. Take

this class and see if you have an inner “Martial Artist” hidden

This course is a follow up to most basic obedience courses.

This course will begin with on lead training, but will move into

off lead training as well as the basics of a canine good citizen

test and or AKC companion dog certification. The course will

not certify dogs for either certification, but will prepare dogs

and owners for tests of this kind. The same skills are continued

from the basic course: sit, stay, down, come, heel, etc. However,

the level of execution is advanced from the basic level. This

course is held indoors; dogs MUST be capable of working

indoors.

This class is for students with little or no experience in tennis.

Fundamentals of all strokes will be taught, including forehand,

backhand, serve, volley and overhead. Scoring and rules will

also be addressed. Each class will begin with a stretching and

warm-up routine and will include some doubles play. Please

bring your own tennis racquet, plus a can of tennis balls.

The bus will pick up promptly atthe Averill Park High School at7:00 a.m. and will return atapproximately 10:00 p.m.Departure time from Bryant Parkin NYC is 7:00 p.m.

We will be traveling with YankeeTrails Charter Bus Company andanyone under the age of 18 mustbe accompanied by an adult. No smoking isallowed on the bus. There will be a short comfortstop on the way to NYC and on the way home(if needed).

BEGINNING DOG TRAINING

Is your dog taking you for a walk

instead of you walking him? Is he

jumping up on your guests? Maybe

it’s time to take your pet to basic

dog obedience training! Basic skills

to be taught are: sit, stay, down,

come, heel, etc. In this course, you

will learn behavioral, reward based

training. Week two will be without dogs. At this time,

participants identify problems and goals for you and your dog.

The final week involves a version of the canine good citizen

evaluation of your dog. The course is designed for dog owners

who want to understand basic dog training for both the home

and working dogs in public. If you have a leash at home, bring

it with you to class so the instructor can determine if it is what

you need. Class size is limited.
