Believing the College Dream
Is Fifth Grade too early to be thinking about college? We don’t think so, and Walthill School has instituted
“Believing the College Dream” to help our students think about their future. We work with all the
students from Fifth Grade through Eighth Grade in identifying their paths to success.
This three-year program, funded by the United States Department of Education through HoChunk
Community Development, is designed to have students, families, school, and community work together in
ensuring success for all our students, with college as the primary goal. To this end we have had our
students identify family members and community members who can provide support for their dreams
outside of school. Students have brought short assignments home which we want them to work on with
their parents. Parents, please ask your Fifth-grade through eighth-grade child if he or she has one of
these assignments so that we can have 100% participation.
If you have any questions about this program, please contact Ed Stansberry or John Mangan at the school.
