We are encouraged to share the living water of the word of Christ Jesus with the world around us. Water is transparent, tasteless, odorless, and nearly colorless. Water covers 71% of the Earth’s surface. About 60% of the human body is water. The brain and heart are 73% water, the muscles and kidneys are about 79% water and even the bones contain 31% water. The conversation between Jesus and the Samaritan woman consists of 13 exchanges about water. It takes place in the unexpected place of Samaria. The animosity between the Jews and the Samaritans goes back generations. The Jews worshiped at the temple in Jerusalem while the Samaritans built a shrine at Mt. Gerizim. A Jewish man did not initiate a conversation with an unknown woman and Jews did not invite contact with Samaritans. Jesus asked for some water and the woman is surprised. Jesus said, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” (John 4:10) The woman only hears physical water; Jesus is offering a water that goes beyond that and leads to eternal life. The words “living water” encourages us to be a canal rather than a reservoir. Water in a canal moves from one place to another, a reservoir only moves when it overflows. As God’s people are encouraged to move out beyond our cozy confines flowing with the love of Christ Jesus to people and places beyond our bounds.

John 4: 5 – 13 Summary
The Sunday School lesson covers Matthew’s account of “The Passion of Christ” as He ventured to the cross for you and me. The Father, the perfect, righteous judge of the universe, forsook Jesus on the cross so that the perfect, righteous sacrifice, Jesus Christ, could be punished for the sins of the whole world. Discuss with your children, “Why was it necessary for Jesus to die? What benefit do we gain from the death and resurrection of Jesus?”

WHAT IS CHURCH? Higher Things Youth Retreat
March 27-28, 2020 Is Church just a building? Is it where people come to pray? Does a church have stained glass windows and a steeple? Is church better if there are more people and loud singing? What is the purpose of the church and why should we even go? Do we go to church to give God our best, or do we go to receive God’s best in Christ via the Word and Sacraments? At this Higher Things Retreat, Pastor Jon Walla and Pastor Matt Richard will be digging in and answering these tough questions and more! Finally, Pastor Joshua Reimche will take attendees behind the scenes of the Divine Service, explaining the significance of what is happening. Everything from the albs that a pastor wears to what is happening at the altar during communion and how these everyday things deliver the Lord’s gifts to us.

Main Street Living Special programming for the Easter Season begins on Palm Sunday, April 5. Palm Sunday will be a one hour tour of the Holy Land. The documentary "The Holy Land-The Eternal Rock Tour" will air for the entire hour replacing the This is the Life segment and the local worship service. The documentary shows the locations where many Biblical events occured.
Easter Sunday, Rev. Dr. Dale Meyer will deliver a special Easter mesage. Rev. Meyer is President of Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. Mark your calendars for these two special services. If you are attending services at the time the program airs, you can see these presentations on the web site, www.mainstreetliving.com , until Friday of the week following the broadcast.
In this “Living Last Supper” dramatization, the disciples speak their minds to themselves, each other, and their Lord. They are reacting to the words they just heard Jesus speak; “One of you will betray me.”

If you wish to receive the Gluten-free wafers, pick up a white disk from the stands before the communion rail. Show the disk to the Elder distributing wafers and leave on the communion rail when
finished.
