Making a Difference: The MaintenanceDepartment, Grounds Crew and the Custodial

Department were honored for their outstandingwork on the new FISD Board Room.

STEM Design Team 3

Design Team 3 or "The STEAM Team" is comprised of 4th - 6thgrade Science teachers, the 4 elementary GT teachers, andiCoaches. The STEAM Team met for 6 sessions with the facilitator, KristinGlaeser, from the Discovery Ed STEM professional developmentprogram. Using the resources from Discovery Ed, teachers haveincorporated STEM instructional strategies into already existinglessons to promote critical thinking, creativity, communication, andcollaboration. Design Team 4 - ELAThe ELA Design Team goal is to provide the best education for ourstudents while focusing on the changing educational and workculture while ensuring that our students are prepared for theacademic challenges ahead. As the one-to-one Chromebookinitiative rolls out, we are working on a plan that maximizes theeffectiveness of the technologies available to our students. The team came home with the largest number of state wrestlingqualifiers since joining 6A. Of the 5 athletes who qualified for theRegional tournament, 4 earned medals and 3 will go on to the nextlevel to wrestle at the State Tournament on February 25th.State Qualifiers:
