*Please stand, in body or in spirit. Text printed in bold italics to be read in unison.

Prelude Chiming of the Hour Welcome

Introit (hymn 239) Good Christians all, rejoice and sing! Now is the triumph of our King! To all the world glad news we bring: Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

*Call to Worship

Praise be to God who reigns above the heavens. Praise be to God who dwells in our midst. Let the majesty of creation worship in reverence. Let all the people give thanks. Praise be to God!

*Hymn 361 O Christ, the Great Foundation

*Call to Confession

*Prayer of Confession

God of resurrection, God of life, we come to you as a people hungry for good news. We have been so dead to miracles that we have missed the world’s rebirth. We have been so preoccupied with our petty cares and concerns, that we have missed your presence among us. We have been so focused on making a living, that we have missed the Life you bring. Forgive us, gracious God. Open our eyes and our hearts to receive your gift; open our lips and our hands to share it with all the world, in the name of our risen Lord, Jesus the Christ.

(time for silent confession) And let God’s people say: Amen.

*Assurance of Pardon

*The Peace of Christ Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us forgive one another. The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. And also with you. Let us share the peace of Christ with one another.

Sermon Corpus Christi Melanie Rasnake

*Affirmation of Faith The Apostles’ Creed (traditional version)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Call to Prayer (hymn 543, verse 1)

God, be the love to search and keep me; God be the prayer to move my voice; God be the strength to now uphold me; O Christ, surround me; O Christ, surround me.

Prayers of the People - with The Lord’s Prayer (ecumenical version) Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

CAMP JOHN KNOX It’s time to think about summer camp registration!

Camp John Knox is the camp and retreat center

for the Presbytery of East Tennessee and—being

just outside Kingston—they are right in our back-

yard. They have programs for ages 4 years old

through high school. For more information and to

register, go to johnknoxcenter.org. Scholarship

funds are available; just call or email the church

office at 483-1318 or [email protected].

VBS WILL BE JUNE 23 & 24 We are teaming up with First Christian and Grace

Lutheran churches to host Vacation Bible school

here at FPC on June 23-24. If you have

children ages 1 year to rising 6th grade, plan now

for them to attend! Registration forms will soon be

available.

Older youth and adult volunteers are needed for a

variety of roles, from decorating to helping lead

games and activities, so look for information in

the April Banner and plan to help make this a

wonderful, meaningful experience for all.

ORGANIST FOR APRIL We welcome John Purifoy who is serving as our

pianist and organist for the month of April. John is

an ASCAP composer and arranger with numerous

published choral cantatas, anthems, instrumental,

and keyboard collections. He served as editor and

director of music publishing for Word, Inc. from

1975-1982. He is the recipient of the Freedom

Foundation’s Award and five-time recipient of the

ASCAP Standard Award. John is currently a free-

lance composer, arranger, and producer.
