    BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

    S. Mooney & J. Noble). There is still time fyou to be included. I think this will be m23/24 year to attend. I have, always, found it

be spiritually uplifting and refreshing. Tprogram includes instruction and entertainmenas well as ample leisure time. (This year, thFlorida Boys quartet will be singing anMarshall Leggett will be speaking.) We aattending May 27-31. We will be utilizing oof our church vans for transportation. Walways, enjoy the special fellowship we have we travel together in our vans. If you havquestions or would like registratioinformation, see me! You can view a poster oour main bulletin board.

    SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY

FINAL THOUGHT:A man who tries to cara cat by the tail learns something he can lea

    in no other way.

THOUGHTS FROM BRAD In the past few months, several of us metin Bible study discussing Erwin McManusbook, Uprising. I would encourage you topick up a copy for your personal enjoyment. In one particular chapter, he writes, How

would it change the work of the church ifour measure of effectiveness was not howlittle sin was being done, but how muchgood was being accomplished? Thats agreat question. You see, you were createdfor more than just existing. You werecreated for Gods purpose and you are touse your life for His glory; for His good.

McManus also writes, There comes a point

in life where you are not supposed to befull of potential; youre supposed to be fullof talent, capacity, product. Potential is aglimpse of what could be, yet there must bea shift from where we have potential towhere we are potent.

If you are young, and someone says, Youhave much potential, then that is acompliment. But at what point in life, doesthat same statement about you lose itsflair? If you get to the later years in lifeand someone says, You have potential, now that same statement is a sad reflectionof a life that never became what it wasmeant to be. You are not to die withpotential! Use your life for God! You areborn with potential, but you are called tolive a productive life. So the question is, are

you potent? You matter to God and youhave something to offer in this life.

Pray about that this week. Ask God tosqueeze every bit of potential out of youand may you live a life of excellence for theKing.

    In His Service,

    Brad

Last week in Children's Church, we learne

about trusting and obeying God. God aske

Abraham to sacrifice his one and only so

Isaac. Abraham obeyed God. When he was juabout to kill his son, God stopped him. He kne

that Abraham trusted God with everythi

    that he had.

We learned that this story is very similar

another story in the Bible. Jesus. God also ha

to sacrifice His one and only son.

Do we trust God with everything that we have

Are we willing to give up what we love the moin order to obey God? It's a tough questio

and one that we must strive to improve on ea

    day.

    SCOTTS THOUGHTS

    Psalm 93

1 The LORD is king! He is robed in majesty.Indeed, the LORD is robed in majesty andarmed with strength. The world stands

firm and cannot be shaken.2 Your throne, O LORD, has stood from timeimmemorial. You yourself are from theeverlasting past.

3 The floods have risen up, O LORD. The floodshave roared like thunder; the floods havelifted their pounding waves.

4 But mightier than the violent raging of the seasmightier than the breakers on the shore -the LORD above is mightier than these!

    5

Your royal laws cannot be changed. Yourreign, O LORD, is holy forever and ever.

My first memory of standing at the edge of thocean was one of amazement. I was astonisheto realize you could get in a boat and cruise fodays and not see land. Even more astoundinwas the first time I waded out into the surthinking I would go for a swim. When the firswave broke over me and knocked me down

seemed seconds turned to minutes as I watossed around under the water. The ocean is aoverwhelming force, more powerful than wordcan explain. The psalmist here reminds us thathe ocean is nothing compared to the one whcreated it and contains it. Before there was aocean God was there. He is still here andeserves our adoration, our awe and wonder. Hdeserves our worship.

    Core Values...

Values central to the life, mission and vision Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:

Christ-Centered WorshipWe make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus throu

Church Health and Biblical BalancChurch health becomes reality when God's people seek

harmony & live consistently. We expect every member toprotect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Pet

    3:8)

Global EvangelismWe are constant to our founding call to worldwide

evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the SavioHealer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and MinistryAfter people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip

them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We waeveryone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-2We also want His church to be the living evidence of His lo

    and power to the world.

DiscipleshipWe do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenu

Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching ythat Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a lifeobedience. In other words, we want to see the things you ataught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decision

Social ConscienceWe place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Bibli

marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity(Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
