Karmel newsKarmel newsKarmel newsKarmel news Dear Friends, Has this ever happened to you? You’re driving down the road when you suddenly notice that the needle of your fuel gauge is on empty. You’re riding on fumes and there isn’t a gas station in sight. Kenneth Gibble says that the word “empty” usually carries negative connotations. We talk about: Empty wallets, empty cupboards, empty refrigerators, or empty stomachs. Empty streets, empty farms, or empty businesses. Empty churches or empty pews. Empty places at family gatherings. Empty hearts and empty homes. All of these phrases suggest that something is wrong. There is one glaring exception to this rule. It is the EMPTY TOMB. Part of our Easter celebration rests in the fact that the tomb of Jesus Christ is empty. For He has risen from the dead. As the Gospel of Luke declares, On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, he has risen! The stone wasn’t rolled away from the entrance to the tomb to let Jesus out. It was rolled away to let the world in so that all people might know that Jesus had risen from the dead. Satan did everything he could to keep Jesus in the ground. The religious leaders did everything they could to keep Jesus in the ground. The Roman soldiers did everything they could to keep Jesus in the ground. But no one could keep Jesus down. To this day there is an empty tomb in the city of Jerusalem that bears silent yet powerful witness to the fact that Jesus has risen from the dead. It is because of the empty tomb that Jesus is able to fill us with His presence and power. As Kenneth Gibble says, “Easter is not just one day a year. It is not even just the best day of the year. Easter is an ongoing reality that happens whenever empty hearts hear the Christ say, ‘I have come that you may have life, and have it to the full.’…Easter is (God’s) answer to every emptiness you and I may encounter. This month we will be collecting supplies for the Adult Day Break held at Karmel twice monthly. This ministry is not a part of the Karmel Church budget. Donations they would appreciate are: sturdy 10 inch paper plates, small dessert plates, disposable soup bowls, napkins, decaf coffee, small hand lotions, dish scrubbies; individual size treats-cookies, crackers, chips, peanuts, etc.; Bingo prizes-post-it notes, candy bars, microwave popcorn, ,

We had a great night when Krista Ebert was here from Lake Beauty sharing about camp. We learned a lot about pirates and TREASURES OF THE KINGDOM. Please remember to register for camp by April 2nd in order to get a $10 or $20 dollar discount price from Lake Beauty. Karmel will also match that discount if registered by April 2nd. We also have partial and full scholarships available from Karmel. The discount codes and scholarship forms are available at the church by the office. There are specific codes for each camp and the scholarship form is on the back. We also have a payment plan where Karmel will pay the camp registration fee up front and you are able to pay it back throughout the year. Mark your check(s) with your child’s name and LBBC in the remarks.

When parish nursing did a survey of congregation interests
last fall, having a refresher course in CPR/AED use was one
of the most requested topics. On Thursday, April 30, there
will be a CPR/AED class here at Karmel led by John Zahn of
Allina Health EMS. It will be a 2 hour course from 6:30 – 8:30
PM. There is no charge for this class.
CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation, a life-saving
technique, that is relatively easy to learn. We do have an AED
here at the church so it would be good to have you come
and also learn how to use it if the occasion should arise that
it is needed.
There will be a sign up sheet on the parish nurse bulletin
board for you to sign up for the class.
From the parish nurse committee, we do wish you the most
blessed Easter as we celebrate Jesus resurrection, The One
who saves us for all eternity.

Carmel Roll Egg Bake
1/2 C butter
1 1/2 C packed brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon-divided
10-12 slices of bread
8-10 eggs
1 3/4 C milk
Melt butter in a 9x13 pan. Stir in brown sugar and 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, tilt
and coat the bottom of the pan. Tear bread into pieces and place on top
of the brown sugar and butter mixture. Blend other ingredients and
pour over bread. Cover with tinfoil and refrigerate overnight. Bake 45-60
minutes @ 350°. Uncover and invert onto cookie sheet or platter.

Spring Work Day-- April 25th The facilities and grounds of Lake Beauty Bible Camp are an essential part of what allows us to do ministry. We invite you to come for free and use your skills, abilities, and servant
hearts to come help us get camp ready for the summer season! Please call the office to let us know you are coming, send an email, or register online! 8:30am is check in time, coffee will
be available. Then help with projects throughout the day till lunch at noon.

Memorial Day Family Camp - May 22-25
Memorial Day Family Camp is just around the corner, which means SUMMER! This year we
have Greg Speck coming to speak. Greg graduated from Bethel University with a major in
Sociology and minors in Social Work and Biblical and Theological studies. He says he has the
best job in the world and that is traveling around the world speaking to teenagers and
families. He has been a caseworker for emotionally disturbed and delinquent teens, Youth
Pastor, Youth Specialist for Moody Bible Institute, President of Youth Ministries International
and a friend to endangered woodland animals. He is now the "Youth and Family communicator" for Bethel
University in, lovely and tropical, St Paul, Minnesota where he and his wife Bonnie live. They also have four
children pursuing their dreams across the world. If you would like to come to Memorial Day Family Camp
please call the office for availability.
L.I.T / Junior Staff Leaders in Training (L.I.T.) is designed to mentor and encourage young Christian
leaders (10th-12th grade) to serve in their home church or as potential cabin leaders
as future members of Lake Beauty's Summer Staff. The design of this program is to help you understand better the gifts that God has placed in you, and how you can use
them to be a disciple of Christ in all areas of your life. Thus the program offers a
variety of seminars, work projects, and opportunities to shadow a staff member. To apply visit our website and fill out the application.
Junior Staff
If you have completed L.I.T. and are not yet old enough to apply to be on summer staff, then this is the
program for you! It's another opportunity for you to continue to learn and grow as a disciple of Christ and
develop your leadership gifts. As a Junior Staff member, you will have the opportunity to be an assistant in a

Spring Work Day-- April 25th The facilities and grounds of Lake Beauty Bible Camp are an essential part of what allows us to do ministry. We invite you to come for free and use your skills, abilities, and servant
hearts to come help us get camp ready for the summer season! Please call the office to let us know you are coming, send an email, or register online! 8:30am is check in time, coffee will
be available. Then help with projects throughout the day till lunch at noon.

Memorial Day Family Camp - May 22-25
Memorial Day Family Camp is just around the corner, which means SUMMER! This year we
have Greg Speck coming to speak. Greg graduated from Bethel University with a major in
Sociology and minors in Social Work and Biblical and Theological studies. He says he has the
best job in the world and that is traveling around the world speaking to teenagers and
families. He has been a caseworker for emotionally disturbed and delinquent teens, Youth
Pastor, Youth Specialist for Moody Bible Institute, President of Youth Ministries International
and a friend to endangered woodland animals. He is now the "Youth and Family communicator" for Bethel
University in, lovely and tropical, St Paul, Minnesota where he and his wife Bonnie live. They also have four
children pursuing their dreams across the world. If you would like to come to Memorial Day Family Camp

L.I.T / Junior Staff Leaders in Training (L.I.T.) is designed to mentor and encourage young Christian
leaders (10th-12th grade) to serve in their home church or as potential cabin leaders
as future members of Lake Beauty's Summer Staff. The design of this program is to help you understand better the gifts that God has placed in you, and how you can use
them to be a disciple of Christ in all areas of your life. Thus the program offers a
variety of seminars, work projects, and opportunities to shadow a staff member. To apply visit our website and fill out the application.
Junior Staff
If you have completed L.I.T. and are not yet old enough to apply to be on summer staff, then this is the
program for you! It's another opportunity for you to continue to learn and grow as a disciple of Christ and
develop your leadership gifts. As a Junior Staff member, you will have the opportunity to be an assistant in a
