Fra Presidenten: God Paask - Happy Easter! It is so great that Spring has arrived and with that comes the celebraton of Easter, beautiful flowers, green grass and lots of sunshine. That being said, our wonderful 80 th Anniversary celebration is here on the 27 th at Captain Bill’s. If you have not made your reservation yet, be sure to contact Brother Ken soon. I attended Henrik Ibsen’s Bowling for fun. It was great to see such a good turnout-- some from Norden Lodge, Garborg Lodge, family and friends, all having a great time. Then the next week, I went to the Zone Bowling, also lots of fun, and a good turnout. Although I am not a bowler, I do enjoy the Fraternalism. As we did not meet on our regular 3 rd Friday, Kris Holvik & I had the opportunity to visit with Garborg Lodge. We were so warnly greeted, the Lapskaus was delicious and we enjoyed President Roy’s meeting. Thank you Garborg Lodge, we had a great time. Six of us went into NYC to see the off Broadway play “The Norwegians”. The actors were great, not sure about the story line though. We did have a great time. By the time you receive this newsletter, the Zone 1 Challenge will have taken place. As I am in charge of the food table and selling hot dogs, I will be able to watch all the crazy fun going on. More on that next time. And now for upcoming events: I would like to send congratulations to Brooklyn Lodge, celebrating their 90 th anniversary on the 26 th and Hartford Lodge celebrating their 50 th on the 27 th . Mark your calendar for 3pm Sunday May 4 th Zone 1 Memorial service at St. Marks Church, Islip. This is a very special event and I urge you to support it. I look forward to seeing you all at our next meeting 7pm, April 11 th , (one week earlier) due to Good Friday. Hero and Salads and a slide show is planned. Vice President’s Message !The hot topic right now is our 80th anniversary scheduled for April 27th at Captain Bill’s Restaurant in Bay Shore. I am pleased to report that we have just over 100 people attending; however we could always accommodate a few more so please continue to spread the word. It’s going to be a great afternoon of fun and fraternalism. Good people, good food and Jeanne Widman Andersen to keep us out on the dance floor.

On another note we had a very successful Brother’s Night at your March meeting. The corn beef was plenty and Kris Hausken’s accordion music made a great ending to Brother’s night.

We even made  a couple hundred dollars for the lodge. Good job Brother’s !!

Ken

The  Third  District  is  the  only  district  in  Sons  of  Norway  with  a  charitable  trust  Fund.  This  exemplifies  the  true  meaning  of  Sons  of  Norway.....  helping  our  fellow  members.    This  fund  was  established  in  1971,  so  this  is  the  43nd  year!          To  date  we  have  helped  brothers  and  sisters  who,  without  this  assistance,  might  not  be  able  to  meet  their  bills,  buy  adequate  food,  or  purchase  medicine  they  need  to  live.  Never  understate  the  good  this  fund  does!  The  “circle  of  friends”  is  the  logo  the  Third  District  chose  to  represent  this  trust  with  the  Counselors  of  each  lodge  being  the  Charitable  Trust  Advocates.  A  district  goal  for  2014  is

to  have  lodges  donate  to  the  Charitable  Trust.    A  banner  will  be  on  display  at  the  2014  convenMon  with  the  names  of  Lodge’s  who  gave  during  our  designated  “Charitable  Trust  month  of  April”.  The  goal  is  to  see  52  names  added  to  the  20  names  of  our  Lodges  that  supported  the  Third  District  Charitable  Trust  in  2013.  This  April,  along  with  all  the  lodges,  we  hope  each  individual  member  feels  they  can  make  a  donaMon.  The  dollar  amount  is  not  important,  it  is  the  fact  that  we  as

individuals  are  joining  together  for  the  greater  good  and  true  purpose  of  the  order.  Individual  names  will  be  on  the  banner  as  well. Thanks  to  everyone  who  supported  The  Third  Distort  Charitable  Trust  in  the  past.  Together,  let's  make  sure  this  great  legacy  has  a  bright  future!

We  are  preparing  for  the  ConvenMon  with  all  the  delegates  and  resoluMons  received  by  the  secretary  Julia.  The  business  will  be  tenuous  but  the  ConvenMon  commiWee  is  making  sure  that  the  atmosphere  at  the  convenMon  is  refreshing  and  gives  us  all  a  chance  to  revive  ourselves.

Rolf  and  I  wish  you  a  very  blessed  Paske. Mange  Takk  -‐  Alt  for  denne  gangen
