Criteria: The Missile Systems Technical Award is presented for a significant accomplish-

ment in developing or using technology that is required for missile systems.

The candidate must have demonstrated expertise in aerodynamics, guidance,

thermo/physics, navigation, control, propulsion, or other fundamental technical

disciplines that has led to substantial improvement in missile systems.

Who May Nominate:

Any member of AIAA in good standing.

Eligibility: Nominees must be AIAA members in good standing.

How to Nominate:

All award nominations must be submitted on the AIAA form available on St. Louis

AIAA web. A summary of the nominee’s accomplishments must accompany this

nomination form. Additional pages may be used to provide the nominee’s justifi-

cation, education, professional assignment, honors, etc. The submitted material

should not exceed ten (10) pages. A minimum of three and a maximum of five

letters of endorsement from AIAA members in good standing must support the

nomination. These should be from individuals not in the candidates’ organiza-

tion. Nominations involving more than one individual should be combined.

Nomination Deadline:

June 1, 2007

Where to Submit Nominations:

The complete nomination package must be sent to Honors and Awards Liaison,

AIAA, 1801 Alexander Bell Drive, Suite 500, Reston, VA 20191-4344. It is also

possible to submit a nomination online via the AIAA website (www.aiaa.org).

Section ChairpersonDuties include overseeing all section activities, coordinating with national AIAA office, conducting section meetings, leading section officer meetings, submitting annual report.

Vice-ChairpersonDuties include supporting section chair whenever required, training to become future chairperson, assisting chairperson with annual report, possibly overseeing section programs.

SecretaryPrepares agendas and takes minutes at meetings, keeps the permanent section records, assists with completion and submission of reports, handles RSVP’s for section activities.

TreasurerConstructs the section budget, monitors budget performance and maintains bank account, submits requests for incentive rebates from national office.

AdvisorServes on the St. Louis Section Executive Council and advises as needed.

APPOINTED CHAIRS: (Contact current Chairperson if interested)

Arrangements ChairPrincipal person for organizing time, place, location, food, etc. for events held by Programs Chair, Technical Chair, and other council chairs.

Career Enhancement ChairPlans and executes programs and activities to aid in career development, surveys membership to determine career development interests.

Education ChairMaintains contact with student branches and faculty advisors, invites student members to meetings, encourages section to support annual student conference.

HistorianKeeps records of St. Louis Section history as well as aviation history in St. Louis. Also interfaces with History Committees at Regional and Institute level.

Honors and Awards ChairPrincipal person for organizing and soliciting nominations for the five St. Louis Section Awards.

Membership ChairMonitors the section membership reports, encourages membership upgrades, establishes a team of facility representatives.

Newsletter ChairCreates a timely section newsletter including events, history articles, and other articles pertaining to the St. Louis Section.

Pilot EducationProvides insight into education opportunities for member pilots.

Pre-College Outreach ChairImplement pre-college outreach programs, maintain contact with section Educator Associate Members, establish relationships with teachers and students.

Programs/Attendance ChairPrincipal person for organizing activities and programs, submits request for Distinguished Lecturer from Institute, determines program interests of membership.

Public Policy ChairWorks with section to promote involvement in Congressional Visit Day in D.C., implement activities to promote public awareness of aerospace issues.

Retirees/General Public ChairPrimary contact for members outside of Boeing.

Service Projects ChairLeads all service projects done by St. Louis Section, including Greater St. Louis Science Fair.

Technical ChairEncourages local section members to be active in technical committees, invites national paper presenters and journal authors to local meetings.

WebmasterUpdates and maintains St. Louis Section website.

Young Professional ChairEstablish programs for young professionals (35 years and younger), nominates young professional for Lawrence Sperry Award.

Young Professional Award ChairCoordinates with Young Professionals Chair to solicit and select nominations for the St. Louis Section Young Professionals Award.

Strategic Planning ChairFocal for updating and maintaining the future vision of the St. Louis Section.
