STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS

“Think of what is above, not of what is on earth.” COLOSSIANS 3:2 On this day we thank God for His Son, Jesus, who died and rose for us. We celebrate and sing, “Alleluia.” Let’s try to keep the joy of this Easter season in our hearts throughout the year! Pray daily and listen for how He is calling each of us to joy-fully use our gifts to fulfill His salvation plan.

SAVE THE DATE—APRIL 14th TRIVIA NIGHT This special fundraiser will help a special friend of our parish. Call Nita at 962-0916 to place a deposit on a table. The cost is $25 per person. Beer and soda and attendance prizes will be provided. Tables are expected to sell out quickly, so reserve now!

SPECIAL PARISH PROGRAM Matt Flinner, Education and Outreach Coordinator for the Better Business Bureau, will present “Tips to Avoid Being the Victim of a Scam,” in the parish hall on Saturday, April 21st at 1:00 p.m. There is no charge to attend, but please sign the sheet in the vestibule if coming. This is a good opportunity to better understand scams currently targeting our area and ways to avoid falling victim to them.

REST IN PEACE In your charity, please pray for the repose of the soul of William Tretinik. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

RETIRED PRIESTS DYNAMIC CATHOLIC, ALIVE! ACFP

PARISH LIFE

Do You Believe in the Resurrection? He is risen, alleluia, alleluia! This is the central belief of the Christian: Jesus Christ rose from the dead and conquered death so that we could spend eternal life with Him. Stop and think today. Do you believe in the Resurrection? If not, consider why not. Because of Christ’s Resurrection we can be people of hope and joy. In the first reading today, Peter repeat-edly mentions how they were witnesses to the life and great works of Christ while He walked the earth. In the Acts of the Apostles, the early disci-ples are absolutely on fire with zeal for the truth that Christ has risen. Let’s get busy sharing that same message and living convicted lives of bold-ness, paying no attention to the attacks from the world. This is a truth worth dying for. May Jesus Christ be praised!

A NIGHT OF DUELING PIANOS A dinner auction to support the Affton Christian Food Pantry will be held on Saturday, April 28th at Seven Holy Founders in Affton. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and dinner is served at 6:45 p.m. The evening will also include a silent and oral auction, dessert dash, open bar, and live music from spanky entertain-ment dueling pianos! Cost is $50 per person, tables of eight. Make checks payable and mail to the ACFP, P.O. Box 6944, St. Louis, MO 63123.

You can make a difference in the lives of our senior priests by supporting the Easter Sunday Archbishop’s Collec-tion for Retired Priests next week-end. This collection is an opportunity to give back to those who have sacri-ficed so much for our parishes and com-munities. Through spiritual milestones and decades of services, our priests have been there for you, your family and your fellow parishioners. It is in retirement that they count on you for prayers and support in medical ser-vices, and other care.

CHANGE IN MASS SCHEDULE As mentioned in last week’s bulletin, the Mass schedule will be changing beginning with next weekend’s Masses, April 8-9th. There will no longer be an 8:00 a.m. Mass on Saturday morning and there will be only one Mass on Sunday morn-

ing. Therefore, the new Sunday obligation Mass schedule will be: Sat-urday, 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, 9:30 a.m. Because of this, some of the Sunday Mass intentions will have to be trans-ferred, as well as all the Saturday morning Masse intentions. Canon Law requires that only one intention be accepted for each Mass. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

CHRIST IS RISEN-ALLELUIA! Our faith is a belief in a God who loves us so much that He would become one like us in all things but sin, to speak His love for us and to show us a way through death to eternal life. We start our journey in the waters of Baptism, with an imparting of sanctifying grace (the life of God) and promise of eternal life. We are nourished along the way in the Eucharist both by Word and sacrament. We are guided by the Holy Spirit, who is leading us to all truth. I hope and pray that your faith renewed through the forty days of Lent brings you peace in this troubled world and a deep, abiding and un-shakeable knowledge of the love of God for all of us!

COMMUNITY

HOW TO BECOME AMERICA’S NEXT MODEL-DISCIPLE The Daughters of St. Paul are hosting Catholic speaker and author Kelly Wahlquist on Wednesday, April 25th, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Pauline Books and Media, 9804 Watson Rd. This will be St. Louis’s first Women, Wine and Wisdom event. Kelly’s talk will focus on women’s unique call to discipleship in a world where Christian principles are rarely upheld, truth is subjective and life redefined. In this culture and climate, one can’t help but think, “Can I really live as true disciples of Christ.” As women, we are created in a unique way for this charge. In addition to an inspiring talk, the event will include appetizers and dessert. Space is limited so register now by calling 314-965-3512 or online at www.gatewaywine.eventbrite.com. Cost is $20 per person.

WHITE HOUSE RETREAT All men of the parish are invited to a Men’s Retreat at the White House Retreat Center beginning at 6:00 p.m., June 21st, and ending Sunday June 24th at 2:00 p.m. Call Harry Haug at 447-6312.
