CONGREGATION OF THE RESURRECTION OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST

Litany of the Resurrection

Lord have mercy on us Christ have mercy on us Lord have mercy on us Christ hear us. Christ graciously hear us. God the Father of heaven: Have mercy on us. God the Son, Redeemer of the world: Have mercy on us. God the Holy Spirit: Have mercy on us. Holy Trinity, one God: Have mercy on us.

The response to the following invocations: Alleluia! Risen Lord, handed over to death for our sins, and raised up for our justification (Rom 14:9). Risen Lord, who died and came to life again that you might be Lord of both the living and the dead (Rom 14:9). Risen Lord, established as Son of God in power by the Res-urrection from the dead (Rom 1:4). Risen Lord, fulfillment of prophecy and foundation of our faith (Acts 3:11f; 1 Cor 15). Risen Lord, stone rejected by the builders which has become the cornerstone (Acts 4:11). Risen Lord, in whom all things are made new and we be-come a new creation (Rev 21:5; 2Cor 5:17). Risen Lord, first fruits of the dead and promise of our resur-rection (1Cor 15:21). Risen Lord, in whom it pleased God to make all fullness re-side (Col 1:19).

The response to the following invocations is: Grant us your peace!

Risen Lord, who entered heaven to appear now before the Father on our behalf (Heb 9:24; Rom 8:34). Risen Lord, in whom God has reconciled us to himself, granting us repentance and the forgiveness of our sins (2 Cor 5:18f). Risen Lord, through whom we have access to the Father in one Spirit (Acts 2:33). Risen Lord, receiving from the Father the promise of the Ho-ly Spirit (Acts 2:33). Risen Lord, who will come again in power to judge the living and the dead (Acts 10:42). Risen Lord, cause and exemplar of our resurrection (1 Cor 15). Risen Lord, with power to raise to eternal life all who believe in you (Jn 11:25). Risen Lord, the Way, the Truth and the Life for all who be-lieve in you (Jn 14:6). The response to the following invocations is: Raise us to

new life! Risen Lord, who in your love for the penitent sinners ap-peared first to Mary Magdalene (Jn 20:11ff). Risen Lord, who in your love for all men and women sent the apostles to preach the Gospel to the whole world (Mt 28:18f).

Risen Lord, in whom we become true children of God and heirs of heaven (Rom 8:14). Risen Lord, present and active among us in your body the Church (Eph 4). Risen Lord, calling us by your resurrection to rise from the death to sin (1Pt 1:3f: Rom 5:6f). Risen Lord, in whom we are established in liberty as children of God (Gal 5:13). Risen Lord, in whom we become a dwelling place for God in the Spirit (Eph 2:22). Risen Lord, in whom we experience genuine community with all who are members of one body (Rom12:5).

The response to the following invocations is: Send us your Spirit!

Risen Lord, opening our minds to understand all the words spoken about you in Scripture (Lk 24:25). Risen Lord, revealing yourself to your disciples in the break-ing of the bread, and to us in Holy Eucharist (Lk 24:30f). Risen Lord, you invite us to relive your Paschal Mystery each time we celebrate the Eucharist (1 Cor 11). Risen Lord, in who we are transformed, to share the life and glory of heaven (2 Cor 3:18). Risen Lord, in and with you we experience victory over the death of fear and anxiety that is involved in each new growth experience of our lives. (2 Cor 2:14). Risen Lord, whose victory over death offers encouragement to all who suffer for justice’s sake (1 Pt 3). Risen Lord, in whom we find the surest means for the resur-rection of society (1 Cor 15:16f). Risen Lord, in who we are already raised up to live now no longer for ourselves but for God (Gal 2:20). Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world! Spare us, O Lord! Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world! Gracious-ly hear us, O Lord! Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the word! Have mer-cy on us! V. Lord, by your cross and resurrection you have set us free. R. You are the Savior of the world! Let us pray: Heavenly Father, in raising up your Son Jesus Christ from the grave, you have raised up the hopes of this fallen world. In spite of the many problems in our world to-day, in spite of our own serious problems, your power will finally triumph. We rejoice in the grace of Christ’s Resurrec-tion, and thank you for this wonderful gift. May it transform our lives, and bring us to eternal life. Amen

Easter Sunday The first light of Easter dawn had begun to creep over the horizon. The steadfast women from Friday's gory events are returning again to the body of their Lord. "Who will roll back the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?" How quickly we return to mundane concerns and how thoroughly God wants to surprise us! Imagine the utter shock upon seeing the stone rolled away, the tomb empty, and a stranger clothed in light proclaiming the impossible. "You seek Jesus of Naza-reth, the crucified. He has been raised; he is not here." He is risen indeed and the world will never be the same. We know from other Gospel passages that Mary Magdalene made haste to the disciples to proclaim the Good News. We know that Peter and John rushed to the tomb to see for them-selves. We know that the wonder and awe of the Resurrec-tion permeated the lives of the apostles until their own dying day. Can we comprehend the utterly world-changing nature of this surprise? The historical reanimation of a dead man is of no real value to us. But we know that Easter Sunday is so much more. By the Resurrection of Jesus, life has triumphed over death for us all. The gates of heaven are opened and the treasury of graces is poured out upon the here and now. This Resurrection Day, let us draw near, amazed yet unafraid, to the risen Christ. Let us recall the words of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, "Jesus is not a character from the past. He lives, and he walks before us as one who is alive, he calls us to follow him, the living one, and in this way to discover for

ourselves the path of life" (Easter Vigil, April 15, 2006).

Religious Formation at Holy Trinity Catholic School

The Assessment of Children/Youth Religious Education

(ACRE) is taken by all 5th and 8th grade students in the

Diocese of Joliet Catholic schools each February. Holy

Trinity Catholic School recently received the results of this

assessment for our students. We are pleased to

announce that our 5th grade students scored a 73.5% on

the Faith Knowledge portion of the test, above the national

averages of 69.4% for all students and 71.6% for all

Catholic school students who took the assessment. Our

8th grade students scored a 77.9%, compared to 72.8%

for all students and 75.6% for Catholic school students

nationally. At our January open house, a parent of 2

recent HTCS graduates now studying at Benet Academy

pointed out that religious formation should be considered

among the things that set us apart at Holy Trinity. He went

on to share that the theology teachers of both of his

students have remarked that they are exceptionally well-

formed and know their Faith well. The faculty considers

that these objective results, in combination with feedback

from the high schools like this, indicate we are on our

chosen path to help parents to form modern-day disciples.

Holy Trinity Mathletes Calculate a Victory! A team of four students from Holy Trinity participated in

the Annual Nazareth Academy 7th Grade Math Contest on Monday, March 12th. The team included Inga Astrauskas, Thomas Cyze, Ken Sledzinski and Ben Steger and earned 2nd place overall in the collaborative competition in the A Division. Ben Steger also earned a bronze medal in the

individual competition. Holy Trinity would like to congratulate the students and teacher, Mrs. Theresa

Steger, for a job well done!

but EVERYDAY a miracle occurs at Mass, when the host is consecrated by the priest and Jesus becomes truly present; body, blood, soul and divinity in the

Eucharistic host. Be grateful. Ask for His forgiveness. Beg for His help in your troubles. Open your heart to His graces. He won’t let you down. Set aside one hour a week and

keep Jesus company.

WHY DO WE DO THAT? - CATHOLIC LIFE EXPLAINED

Question: What is the most important holiday on the Catholic calendar?

Answer: In our daily life, we often refer to "holidays." The word "holiday" actually comes from the word "holy day." More than a simple celebration or family gathering, these days connect us to God in a unique way. We remember - and share in - the events in God's plan of salvation. Some feasts may be celebrated with more traditions and secular atten-tion, like Christmas, but the most important holy day

is Easter.

When Jesus died and rose again, he destroyed the ultimate weapon of sin and made it possible for us to have eternal life with him in Heaven. Without the res-urrection, St. Paul tells us, our faith is in vain. This past Holy Week, we walked through the Paschal Mystery, the suffering, death, and resurrection of

Christ. Easter is commemorated each time we cele-brate the Mass. As St. John Paul II said, "we are an Easter people and alleluia is our song!" Jesus was

born for Easter. Our joyful celebration of the resurrec-tion is at the core of what it means to be a Christian!

Resurrection Prayer

O Risen Lord, the Way, the Truth, and the Life! Make us faithful followers of the spirit of Your Resurrec-tion. Grant that we may be inwardly renewed; dying to ourselves in order that You may live in us. May our lives serve as signs of the transforming power of Your love. Use us as Your in-struments for the renewal of society, bringing Your life and love to all, and leading them to Your Church. This we ask of You, Lord Jesus, living and reigning with the Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever. Amen

If you haven’t picked up your parish direc-tory, please visit the parish office during regular business hours. They are available at no cost to each family who had their picture taken for the directory.

Easter Prayer of Thanksgiv-ing

Good and gracious heavenly Father, we come before you on this Easter Sunday with full and grate-ful hearts for the gift of the Paschal Mystery that you showed us in the life, death, and resurrection of your Son, our brother by adoption, Je-sus Christ. Bless us and all those who profess belief in your saving love. Bless also those who have

yet to profess belief in you. You are God for all. We ask all this in

Christ's name. Amen.
