Founded in 1901, with a long history and significant influence both at home and abroad, Shandong University (SDU) is a key comprehensive university under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education of China, and a member university of the nation’s construction plan of world-class universities (Category A).Shandong University, Weihai (SDUW), built in 1984, together with the campuses in Jinan and Qingdao, constitute SDU’s pattern of “One University-Eight Campuses-Three Cities” and contribute to a unique educational model of multi-campus sharing resources and complementing strengths. SDUW graduates will be awarded SDU graduation diploma and degree certifi cate. Covering a fl oor area of 500,000 square meters, SDUW currently offers 43 bachelor’s degree programs, spanning 8 general disciplines: Literature, Art, Law, Economics, Management, Science, Engineering and Medicine. The campus can recruit master’s students in 24 first-level disciplines, doctoral students in 16 first-level disciplines, and post-doctoral students in 18 first-level disciplines. It is now home to 14,900 undergraduate students, 1,600 master and doctoral students and over 1,000 international students. The number of faculty and staff totals over 1,200, including 399 professors and associate professors, and 473 doctoral and master’s supervisors.SDUW locates in Weihai, a beautiful coastal city praised as one of the most livable cities in the world. The campus is also one of the university campuses which enjoy the longest coastline. Characterized by four distinctive seasons and endowed with enchanting sceneries, the campus backs on Majia Mountain in the north, faces Wenxin Lake in the south and hugged by two bathing beaches in the east and west. Eligibility for Application

02Applicants who are emigrants to other countries from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan need to provide valid passport or other nationality certificate of that country that has been issued for no less than 4 years (before April 30th of the year of enrollment) as well as relevant records to prove your physical presence in that country for more than 2 years (Nine full months physical presence in the country could be counted as one year, which shall be calculated based on the entry and exit records on your passport).

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good physical and mental health, and possess a valid foreign passport. Relevant supporting documents will be needed for applicants who are under the age of 18 at the point of application and entry.

Application Dates

Academic qualification: Applicants for undergraduate programs must have a graduation certificate of a senior high school with good academic performance. Applicants who have not graduated yet must submit an expected graduation certificate issued by their home institution. It should contain the expected date of graduation. The applicants should present the original graduation certificate when registering at SDUW. Failure to do so will invalidate their admission off er.

Chinese-taught Programs1. New HSK Level 4 or above with a score of 180+2. The only exception of the Chinese proficiency test requirement is for applicants who have obtained their highest degree in an institution where the primary language of instruction is Chinese. Then official proof must be submitted.

English-taught Programs1. All applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit the results of the IELTS (6.0 or above) or TOEFL (iBT) (80 or above/TOEFL Mybest Scores are accepted) or other equivalent certificates of English proficiency.2. Chinese Language Program01 Program Introduction Chinese Language Program is a non-degree program, with the aim to improve international students’ Chinese profi ciency and communicative competence. Those who successfully complete the program will be awarded the Certifi cate of Completion by SDUW.Period of study: one semester or longer, starts in March and September every year.

Admitted students must apply for a study visa at the Chinese Embassy/Consulate/Visa Centre in their home country with the Admission Notice and JW 201/202 Form. International students who come to study for less than 6 months should apply for X2 Visa. Students who will study in China for more than 6 months are required to obtain X1 visa. To stay in China legally, it is mandatory for X1 visa holders to apply for the Residence Permit within 30 days after your first entry by submitting their application to the Office of International Student Affairs in a timely manner.

The campus of SDUW is close to the International Bathing Beach with a coastline of over 2800 meters. The international students’ residential halls are located on campus which are double rooms equipped with desks, chairs, wardrobes, beds and individual bathrooms. There are also public kitchens, laundries and study rooms in the dormitory.
