    Extension, Kumaun University, Nainital - 263 002. Online submitted examination forms will not be

    accepted.

    Important Instructions

    A. Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. Entrance Test:(a) A candidate for the Ph.D. degree entrance test must have a Masters degree of the Kumaun

    University (hereafter referred to as University) or of any other University incorporated by thelaw in force and recognized by the UGC; provided also that the candidate either,

    (i) has secured at least fifty five percent (55%) marks or a grade point average equivalent of 55%

    marks at the Masters Degree examination. For S.C . /S.T./ Physically Handicapped

    (PH)/Visually Handicapped (VH) Candidates, the minimum marks shall by 50%.

    (ii) a candidate eligible as per above point (a)(i) shall have to appear in the Ph.D. Entrance

    Examination conducted by the university.

    B. Procedure for Admission:The candidates shall be selected for registration into the Ph.D. degree (i) Through Research

    Entrance Test (RDET) or (ii) Direct Admission (without appearing in RDET). Procedure for admission willbe as follows:

    (a) Through Research Entrance Test (RDET)

    (i) Through Research Entrance Test (RDET): Subject knowledge (objective / multiple choice type)

    (Written Test of 100 marks; Duration of Examination: 2hrs)

    (ii) Paper shall contain 100 objectives / multiple choice type questions and each question shall

    c arry one mark with no negative marking.

    (iii) No scrutiny / revaluation of the answer sheet of the written test shall be conducted.

    (iv) The Qualifying Percentage of Marks in the Entrance Examination will be as under -

    General 50%, OBC 45% & SC/ST/VH/PH - 40%.

    (v) Admission to the Ph.D. programme in each subject shall be made strictly according to RDET meritagainst the available seats in the concerned subject in the university campus and affiliated colleges.

    (vi) Reservation Policy of the State of Uttarakhand shall be followed.

    (b) Direct Admission (without appearing in RDET)

    (i) Direct Admission (Without appearing in RDET): A candidate who has qualified UGC-CSIR NET-JRF or

    equivalent national test shall be considered for direct admission to the Ph.D. programme without

    appearing in Research Degree Entrance Test (RDET) but shall apply by filling the form within due date.

    (ii) A regularly appointed permanent teacher having served the university or the college for a period

    of minimum of one year as a regular teacher in the University or the College affiliated to the

    University as per University/State Govt. rules shall also be exempted from the Ph.D. EntranceTest bur are also required to apply and shall be considered together with other candidates at

    the time of counseling for allotment of supervisor.

    C. List of documents to be enclosed with the application form1. A demand draft of Rs. 1000/- of any nationalise bank drawn in favour of Finance Officer,

    Kumaun University, payable at Nainital .

    2. Self attested copies of mark-sheets and certificates etc.

    3. Certificate in support of reservation category

    4. Self attested copy of UGC/CSIR NET-JRF or equivalent national test or Regular faculty certificate

    etc.

    5. Character certificate from the institution last attended

    D. General Instructions(i) The candidates must read the conditions of eligibility as given at item no. A carefully and must

    satisfy themselves regarding their eligibility forthe Ph.D. Entrance Test before filling the applicationform.

    (ii) Candidates will be issued the Admission Card by the Kumaun University after allotment of testvenue. Candidates should note that their candidature is strictly provisional. The mere fact that

    Admission Card has been issued to any candidate shall not imply that the directorate has finallyaccepted his/her candidature.

    (iii) The university may change the centre(s) or date of examination without assigning any reason.

    (vi) Application Form must be complete in all respects as per the Notification. All incompleteApplication Forms will be rejected.

    (v) Applications submitted on any other format will not be accepted.

    (vi) Applications received after the last date, i.e. 10.07.2013 will not be entertained.

    (vii) The use of calculators or Log Tables is not permitted. Mobile phones, pagers and electronicdevices etc. are not allowed in the Examination Hall/Room.

    (viii) Candidates should ensure that the signatures appended and photographs pasted by them in allthe places, viz. in their Application Form and OMR Sheet, be identical and there should be novariation of any kind.

    (ix) All legal disputes pertaining to this Test shall fall within the jurisdiction ofHonble High Court ofUttarakhand, Nainital only.

    (x)Applicants are advised to visit university website www.kuntl.in regularly for any furtherannouncement and notices. Dissemination of such information at personal level or via newspaperswill not be possible.

    (xi) The decision of the university shall be final in all matters.
