OPENBARE DEELNAMEPROSES KENNISGEWING VIR DIE SLOPING VAN CALTEX V & A WATERFRONT DIENSSTASIE SEC PROJEKNOMMER: 0171111 Die aansoeker, Chevron South Africa (Edms) Bpk, stel voor om 'n bestaande diensstasie en verwante infrastruktuur, naamlik Caltex V & A Waterfront, te ontmantel. Die eiendom is in besit van V & A Waterfront Holdings (Edms) Bpk. Caltex V & A Waterfront is geleë langs die sirkel wat Dockweg, Wes Quayweg en Suid Armweg verbind met Walter Sisululaan op Erf 176801, Kaapstad. Die terrein is tans operasioneel en bestaan uit ses 23 m
3 kapasiteit ondergrondse brandstof tenks (UST's), vyf pompe en verwante
brandstoflyne en vulpunte. Die vulstasie het ook ‘n winkel, 'n vertoonlokaal wat deur Vespa gebruik word en 'n kantoorgebou op die tweede verdieping, geleë bokant die voorhof. Die ontmanteling sal die verwydering van al die UST's en die sloop van die winkel, die vertoonlokaal, die kantore en alle ander toepaslike infrastruktuur behels. Sillito Environmental Consulting ("SEC") is deur die Aansoeker aangestel om 'n aansoek om 'n Omgewingsmagtiging vir die voorgestelde ontmanteling te onderneem. Die voorgestelde ontmanteling lei tot 'n aktiwiteit wat gelys word ingevolge die Omgewingsinvloedbepalingsregulasies wat in 2017 gepubliseer is ingevolge die Wet op Nasionale Omgewingsbestuur (Wet No. 107 van 1998). Die betrokke aktiwiteit word soos volg gelys: Goewermentskennisgewing No. 327 van die EIA-regulasies 2017, Noteringskennisgewing 1 Aktiwiteit 32 Die aansoekproses vir omgewingsmagtiging is 'n basiese assesseringsproses soos omskryf in die 2017 NEMA EIA Regulasies vervat in Goewermentskennisgewing No. 326 van 2017. Openbare konsultasie is 'n komponent van die Basiese Assesseringsproses. As sodanig word u hiermee in kennis gestel van die openbare deelnameproses en die beskikbaarheid van die konsep Basiese Evalueringsverslag vir u hersiening en kommentaar. • As u as 'n belanghebbende en geaffekteerde party wil registreer, moet u dit skriftelik doen, met u naam en
kontakbesonderhede asook 'n aanduiding van u belangstelling in hierdie aangeleentheid en enige direkte besigheid, finansiële, persoonlike of ander belangstelling wat u mag hê in verband met hierdie voorstel. Gee asseblief die SEC Projeknommer nommer hierbo in alle korrespondensie aan.
• As 'n belanghebbende en geaffekteerde party sal u in kennis gestel word oor enige verdere inligting, en op hoogte van sake te bly van die projek. U sal ook die geleentheid kry om kommentaar te lewer op die verslae wat vir hierdie Basiese Assesserings-aansoek saamgestel is.
• Die Konsep Basiese Assesseringsverslag sal vanaf 13.03.2018 beskikbaar wees vir hersiening in harde kopie by die Seepunt Openbare Biblioteek in die Civic Centre op die hoek van Drie Ankerbaaiweg en Hoofweg, Seepunt, Kaapstad

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROCESS NOTIFICATION FOR THE DECOMMISSIONING OF CALTEX V&A WATERFRONT
SERVICE STATION SEC PROJECT NUMBER: 0171111
The applicant, Chevron South Africa (Pty) Ltd proposes to decommission an existing service station and associated
infrastructure, namely Caltex V&A Waterfront. The property is owned by V&A Waterfront Holdings (PTY) Ltd. Caltex V&A
Waterfront is located next to the circle connecting Dock Road, West Quay Road and South Arm Road with Walter Sisulu
Avenue on Erf 176801, Cape Town.
The site is currently operational and consists of six 23 m3 capacity underground fuel storage tanks (UST’s), five pump
dispensers and associated fuel lines and filler points. The site has a convenience store, an exhibition centre used by Vespa and
an office block located on the second storey, located above the forecourt.
The decommissioning will entail the removal of all the UST’s and the demolition of the convenience store, the exhibition centre,
the offices and all other applicable infrastructure.
Sillito Environmental Consulting (“SEC”) has been appointed by the Applicant to undertake an application for an Environmental
Authorisation for the proposed decommissioning.
The proposed decommissioning triggers an activity listed in terms of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations
published in 2017 in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (Act No. 107 of 1998). The activity in question is
listed as follows: Government Notice No. 327 of the EIA Regulations 2017, Listing Notice 1 Activity 32
The application process for Environmental Authorisation is a Basic Assessment process as defined in the 2017 NEMA EIA
Regulations contained in Government Notice No. 326 of 2017.
Public consultation is a component of the Basic Assessment process. As such, you are hereby notified of the public
participation process and of the availability of the draft Basic Assessment Report for your review and comment.
If you would like to register as an interested and affected party (I&AP), please do so in writing, giving your name and
contact details as well as an indication of your interest in this matter and of any direct business, financial, personal or
other interest that you may have in relation to this proposal. Please quote the SEC Project Number provided above in all
correspondence.
Registering as an I&AP will entitle you to further project information, to be kept informed of project progress and provide
you with an opportunity to comment on the reports compiled for this Basic Assessment application.
The Draft Basic Assessment Report will be available from 13.03.2018 for review in hard copy at the Sea Point Public

Five pump dispensers; Fuel tank filler points; Separator system for surface runoff; Associated underground fuel and filler lines; A convenience store; ATMs; An exhibition centre; An office building above the forecourt canopy; and A carwash.
