APPENDIX – 6
Testing Hypothesis 1
Step 1: Setting Hypothesis.
H0 Null Hypothesis: 0.90% or more customers have positive attitude towards
Web advertising.
H1 Alternate Hypothesis : <0.90% customers have positive attitude towards
Web advertising.
H0 : p =0.90
H1= p < 0.90 (One tail test as rejection area is towards one side)
Step II: Sample Size n=375 (> 30)
As n > 30, large sample test i.e. Z-test is used.
224
Step III: Calculation of S.E. (Standard Error)
S.E=√ pq/n Where p=0.90
q= 1-p = 0.1
S.E. = √ 0.09 / 375 = 0.01549
Step IV: Calculation of Z value.
Z= diff. / S.E. Where diff. = p - observed proportion Z= (0.90 – 0.8853) / 0.01549 = 0.9489
Step V: Comparison:
Table value of Z for one tail test 5% level of significance is 1.64
Step VI: Conclusion:
Calculated Z < Table value of Z hence we accept H0 which means more than 90%
respondents have positive attitude towards Web advertising and hence the hypothesis
is accepted.
225
APPENDIX – 7

H0 Null Hypothesis: 0.90% or more companies/organizations agree that the sale
increases with the help of Web ad.
H1 Alternate Hypothesis: < 0.90% companies/organizations agree that the sale
increases with the help of Web ad.
H0 : p =0.90
H1= p < 0.90 (One tail test as rejection area is towards one side)
Step II: Sample Size n=47 (> 30)
As n > 30, large sample test i.e. Z-test is used.
226
Step III: Calculation of S.E. (Standard Error)
S.E=√ pq/n Where p=0.90
q= 1-p = 0.1
S.E. = √ 0.09 / 47 = 0.04375
Step IV: Calculation of Z value.
Z= diff. / S.E. Z= (0.9149 – 0.90) / 0.04375 = 0.34057
Step V: Comparison:
Table value of Z for one tail test 5% level of significance is 1.64
Step VI: Conclusion:
Calculated Z< Table value of Z hence we accept H0 which means more than 90%
respondents agree that sale increases with the help of Web ad and hence the hypothesis
