On this occasion, we are getting to the end of another presidential term and it seems proper to do so as well. I think we can agree that APIBA has reached an ac- ceptable degree of administrative organisation; we have im- proved communication with our members; we have been able to keep the web site quite updated and we have offered a wide variety of courses and workshops targeting different interests. As regards financial matters, it might seem that we can be relatively at ease for the time being, since although we have not been able to collect most of our members’ fees, thanks to the hard work of the committee and the support of several sponsors and distinguished members we have been able to keep the association working without compromising APIBA’s funds. However, this is not enough, because the Association would be nothing without the support of its members and their active participation. Among our pending issues there is the need to get the Sub-Committees to really take an active role. We also need to improve our communication with institutions both in the city of BA and in the Province, so as to increase the number of participants in our events and our membership. At our coming AGM on Saturday October 15th several positions on the APIBA committee will be up for election, in- cluding that of President. APIBA looks forward to nominations from members wishing to share their professional expertise and leadership qualities for the continuity of our dear associa- tion. Being a member of the Executive Committee is a unique opportunity to work with colleagues on different projects for the sake of the English teaching profession. We know it is hard work but it is really worth it. I look forward to seeing you all at the forthcoming AGM. From the PresidentAs in our daily life, whenever we get to the end of a

term we look back on what has been accomplished and what isstill pending. On this occasion, we are getting to the end ofanother presidential term and it seems proper to do so as well.

I think we can agree that APIBA has reached an ac-ceptable degree of administrative organisation; we have im-proved communication with our members; we have been ableto keep the web site quite updated and we have offered a widevariety of courses and workshops targeting different interests.

El propósito del presentecódigo es apoyar a los profesores y demostrar su status profesional. Todo profesor solicitante de membresía aAPIBA expresa implícitamente su adhesión al presente código.

Las comisiones que laAsociación confíe a los miembros deberán ser aceptadas y cumplidas, a no ser que proceda excusa por una razónmuy justificada.El profesor cumplirá con todas las normas e instrucciones que conforme a la ley dicten las autoridades de laAsociación. Es deber de todo profesor respetar el derecho de opinión y obligación especial de la autoridad de laAsociación, escuchar y estudiar las sugerencias hechas por cualquiera de sus miembros en la forma indicada en elartículo 7.3El profesor podrá disentir y criticar.
