Born on July 6th 1944 and having both
primary and secondary education in a
village with the most basic infrastructure
and witnessing the struggles of everyday
life, it is not surprising to appreciate my
career choice. It was born out of a desire
to improve the quality of life of our
fellow human beings. I knew early on,having arrived in the UK and witnessing
the stark contrast that the pursuit, not
withstanding the exhilaration of gaining
the knowledge, was not going to be smooth. Despite the trials, I
persevered and graduated with a BSc in Civil Engineering from the
University of London in 1972.
I promptly secured employment with Town of Lambeth but always
longed to return to the Caribbean to make a difference. Fortunately,
after having worked about six years in the UK, I was offered and
accepted a job at Trinidad Engineering & Research (1978) Limited in1978. I subsequently left to incorporate my own company VIKAB
Engineering Consultants Limited in 1985.
