APAVE, A RESPONSIBLE COMPANY

APAVE INDIAN OCEAN is a responsible company, engaged in social projects which are financed through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund. For any activity related to such projects, our employees are always keen to participate. We also encourage each employee to exercise civic responsibility, and have impeccable attitude towards others, as having the right attitude is of great importance in our Human Resources Policy, and is, in fact, one of the major criteria in the evaluation of an employee overall performance. Many small actions have also been introduced in the last recent years to encourage staff to save energy and recycle anything that can be.

OUR CSR POLICY At Apave Indian Ocean we seek to achieve corporate and social objectives by focusing on strategic areas, based on our Mission, Vision and Values. This concept is a balance to our economic growth with the sustainable social and environmental development of the country. The company and its subsidiary ploughs back 2% of its profits annually in the community through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Hence, Apave Indian Ocean and its subsidiary AIO Development will, through their CSR fund, finance one of the 4 priority areas: the Welfare of children from vulnerable groups, up to 50% of the total CSR fund as defined in the CSR Guidelines.

OUR CSR COMMITEE A structured CSR Committee has been established in the company in order to define the CSR strategies previously mentioned.

The committee consists of a President, a Secretary and three other members from different departments of the company. Meetings are held once a month to discuss issues and projects.

Every decision taken is an independent one, as the general management chose to be impartial in the decision-taking process regarding the selection of projects. Moreover, if a member of the Committee has any relationship of whatsoever kind with an NGO the member will not take part in decision making regarding this particular NGO.

The CSR Committee, as well as the employees of Apave Indian Ocean, are very concerned by all the projects that are selected, and attach great importance in participating in a maximum of activities proposed by selected organisations.

For any information, or if you wish to send us your project, kindly send us a mail on [email protected].

OUR “GREEN” ACTIONSAPAVE strongly encourages its staff to use the techniques of energy saving and recycling techniques available in Mauritius. So we have set areas for “paper recycling”, “battery recycling” and “recycling ink cartridges” in different parts of the office, where employees are asked to drop off documents waste, cartridges or batteries they want to get rid of. We then take care to send these items to the recycling points available throughout the island.

Various activities are also carried-out in-house to avoid the waste of paper and electricity. So the staff is sensitized for the better control of energy costs: air conditioners are set at 25 degrees minimum, the lights switched off every time someone leaves his office, etc..

At APAVE, we firmly believe that any company must have a corporate citizenship, to educate and encourage employees for moderate and better use of the natural resources of our planet.

OUR SOCIAL AND CIVIC COMMITMENT
