AP United States Government and Politics Reading Assignments will include a set of questions I provide, each key term (vocabulary) listed, and a chapter outline you create. These assignments are worth 100 points. Be sure to label and number everything clearly to ensure you earn as much credit as you deserve.

Objectives: can be answered in short response format

Discussion questions: must be answered in complete sentences, being no less than one paragraph each

Key terms: number each word, include the word and the definition

Outline: must include each heading listed as well as the information you find pertinent All reading assignments will be due on the day of the test, unless otherwise instructed. Reading assignments will be done by hand, unless instructed otherwise (but remember, you must write legibly!) Extra Credit: With each unit students may earn double the vocabulary points by identifying each key term in current events. Students may cut out newspaper articles or print them off the internet. Key terms must be highlighted (you only need to highlight it once). Multiple terms in one article is acceptable. Articles cannot be older than August 10th, 2016. Other readings and assignments will be assigned throughout the course with timely notice. Unit 1: Constitutional Underpinnings of the United States Government (5-15%) Chapters 1, 2, 3 TEST 1: January 19-20, 2017 Unit 2: Political Beliefs and Behaviors (10-20%) Chapters 4, 7, 8 TEST 2: February 6-7, 2017 Unit 3: Political Parties, Interest Groups, and Mass Media (10-20%) Chapters 10, 11, 12 TEST 3: February 23-24, 2017 Unit 4: Institutions of National Government: The Congress, the Presidency, the Bureaucracy, and the Federal Courts (35-45%) Chapters 13, 14, 15, 16 TEST 4: March 30-31, 2017 Unit 5: Public Policy (5-15%) Chapters 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 TEST 5: April 3-4, 2017 Unit 6: Civil Rights and Civil Liberties (5-15%) Chapters 5, 6 TEST 6: April 20-21, 2017
