“MATCH DAY” Results 2012
Residencies Received by Seniors at the University of South Alabama
Recent graduating classes of the College of Medicine have been recipients of very successful Match Day records. This special time and day near the end of the four years of medical school occurs across the nation in March each year. It is time of general release of the results of the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). The NRMP allows senior medical students who are seeking first year post-graduate positions and institutions that are offering positions the opportunity to rank their preferences confidentially at a uniform date. The NRMP matches each senior to the residency program ranked highest on each student’s rank-order-list that offers him/her a residency position.
Most of the seniors utilize the NRMP Match, but some students in each class utilize other systems* to secure a residency, e.g., military match, subspecialty match, etc. In these Matches, each senior prepares a rank-order-list of programs to which he/she has applied, then hopes the match results will indicate the highest program of the list is his/her “Match.” In all medical schools, there are usually a few seniors who do not match initially. This year six USA students were initially unmatched.

"JylATCI-I DAY" Results 2009
Residencies Received by Seniors at the University of South Alabama
Recent graduating classes of the College of Medicine have been recipients of very successful Match Day records. This special time and day near the end of the four years of medical school occurs across the nation in March each year. It is time of general release of the results of the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). The NRlv[P allows senior medical students who are seeking first year post-graduate positions and institutions that are offering positions the opportunity to rank their preferences confidentially at a uniform date. The NRl\1P matches each senior to the residency program ranked highest on each student's rankorder-list that offers him/her a residency position.
Most of the seniors utilize the NRl\1P Match, but some students in each class utilize other systems to secure a residency, e.g., military match, subspecialty match, etc. In these Matches, each senior prepares a rank -order-list of programs to \vhich he/she has applied, then hopes the match results will indicate the highest program of the list is his/her "Match." In all medical schools, there are usually a few seniors who do not match initially. This year five USA students were initially unmatched but had received a position by Match Day.
